Matt Roush: No worries on Castle. It’s not exactly a breakout hit, but it will do, and ABC needs a repeatable, reliable show like this in its stable. And with a little nurturing, it could become an even better show. (Without question, Nathan Fillion is a TV star.)

Also on page 4, Matt writes about being at the Whedon family reunion at Paley Fest.

Makes me feel even better about the paper letter I just sent ABC thanking them for producing Castle.

-- Me , My sister, and her hubby are BIG fans of Castle. I was getting a little worried about the better than expected but not out of the ballpark ratings the show's been getting. This is very welcome news and will put a stop to my unnecessary teethgrinding. The show had a great start and it's just getting better and better with each new episode. I still smile every time I see or think of a twinkie or when I think about the "special brand of hell" and most of all... when I have to use the windshield wiper.
Thanks for the post.

Thanks so much for posting this. I was getting a little worried with what was happening over at Fox with Dollhouse. This is such food news for Nathan, because he looks like he's having so much fun in that show. It's good news for Firefly fans because there will be more people exposed to the fandom through Nathan's success and give Nathan more clout. And it really is a hoot to watch that show. Nathan's sense of comedic timing is just a joy - and we could all use a little more of that.

TDBROWN

Next to the Sereniverse, which was where Nathan is meant to be, Castle is a good fit for him. I enjoy the show alot, and am delighted that it's safe (probably) for now.

I feel sad for Summer Glau, though. Roush indicates in the article that T:SCC has probably finished it's run. The Season Climax had some closure to it, so it's a good way to go out, but Summer deserves better. She was becoming the most recognized actress on the show, and cameron was without a doubt the favorite character of most of us who watched. I hope she gets a good vehicle for her next gig. She might join the cast of an existing show, but I hope she ends up somewhere that allows her to grow into the Star that she so obviously can be.

-Ok, I'm done gushing over Summer now.

"Might have been the losing side, still not convinced it was the wrong one." -Mal

Don't give up on Cameron and John Connor yet. Let's wait and see how Terminator: Salvation does at the theaters.

Warner Brothers made the series and Warner Brothers made the movie. They could try a season of Terminator: The John Connor or Terminator: The Beginning.

Is WB part of the CW network? I think they at least have an online network.

Where we explore who built the time-machine, who used it first. Who sent who back to the past first. Because Skynet sent Arnold back to kill John Connor's Mom...but John Connor send his Dad back to save his Mom and become his father.

We've got
a silver terminator who thinks she is a mother
John Connor who no one knows and wants to get back to his Mom
John Connor's future father
John Connor's future uncle
the future uncle's girlfriend
the future blond girlfriend of John Connor
John Henry (the good brother of Skynet) walking around with a Cameron chip
a human young woman (who is the basis for Cameron) with her dog
a time machine already built or being built by who
Skynet (the evil brother of John Henry)

and somewhere there is a warehouse with Cameron terminators about to be built.

WHOZIT

BONES (my fav) is not a huge hit, but it is a top 25 show with stable ratings. My guess is CASTLE is in the same boat, as long as it keeps it's core audiance and solid numbers it'll be fine.

STOWEAWAY

Another good sign:

Read the article and then followed a link to TVGuide online polls (right column). One poll question is "What is your favorite mid-season replacement show?"
Castle currently has 65% of the votes. So looks like it's a viewer favorite.

And, really, who wouldn't love a guy who sings his own action music and fights criminals with a windshield wiper?
