Okay, I really hope I'm not asking a dumb question here. But anyway, when Serenity docks onto the Alliance cruiser, they're upside down, right? Well they aren't hitting their heads on Serenity's ceiling, so what's going on? Can someone explain this to me so I can be back on the right side up?

Cheers!

Well, there is no "up" in space... so while the Serenity appeared to be upside down in relation to the Alliance cruiser, all that counts is that their respective gravity generation systems kept their feet where they were supposed to be.

"gravity generation systems", yeah I'm getting it now. But what about when the Alliance entered Serenity? I guess we're to assume that they've adjusted their gravity control and that's why they were coming from a circular tunnel? (it was a circular tunnel, I think?)

Thanks!

It's TEEVEE SHOW. It doesn't matter! There is no book of NASA specs that all sci-fi shows have to obey. Remember how it was managed in "2001"? The flight attendant wore boots that were either magnetic or had very sticky Velcro, and she passed between decks with different orientations by waiting in a rotating cylinder until she matched the target. That was a MOVIE, also a piece of fiction, and I haven't heard of any actual space vehicles with such a drum or such shoes.

Yeah, I think that's about right.
