I have been searching the Internet for days on end in search of one particular Firefly fanfic that I read about a week ago. I read the fic, fell in love with it, but, having stayed up past 2 days straight, I was a bit hazy and I do not remember where it was. As I did not stray to too many sites during that time, it seems likely I keep missing it. I was wondering if you happen to recognize the following plot:

[Kaylee accidentally becomes pregnant during Jaynestown, she finds out in Inar's shuttle. She is upset and scared. She later tells Simon, who DOES NOT react well and storms off, hurting Kaylee's feelings alot. He later comes to grips with it, becomes happy and rectifies the situation. The couple hide the news from the crew, sans Inara. River knows (duh) and buys the baby a green soft blanket and gives it to Kaylee. (Kaylee talks how unprepared they are b/c nothing on the ship is this soft, and babies need soft things) The couple are really happy, and Mal and the crew figures they are just "rutting" and having fun.
In a horrible turn of events an explosion(?) in the engine room hurts Kaylee and she loses the baby. Simon has to tell her this while she is still in the hospital and she seizes. Mal thinks Simon upset her by saying something mean to her, causing the seizure and that their "constant rutting" is why Kaylee was so tired and in the accident. Simon tells Mal that Kaylee was pregnant, hence the tiredness, and that she seized when he had to tell her that their baby died.
Once back on Serenity, Kaylee doesn't leave her bunk and is (obviously) very sad. River takes out the blanket and tell her she needs to move on. She fights with River a bit, but comes to terms, Simon puts the blanket away, to save for "next time" assuring her that their relationship is still solid.]

Mostly I am confuse b/c, as previously stated, I hadn't slept so there is part of me thinking I dreampt it, but seeing how organized it is, I HIGHLY doubt that. Thank you.

Just a thought. Have you tried searching your browser's history for the link to the story?

BEATLESFAN

I just finished reading this. I've never been one for fan fictions, but I get the sense that Browncoats do it better. I just realized that the writer hasn't been on the site in over a year, but I feel that there's a story that I need to tell anyway. I posted it in a comment, but I'll put it here as well.

"I DID cry when I read this. Shortly after my fiancee and I first met, she feared she might have gotten pregnant from her previous boyfriend. After several nights of researching her symptoms, we found out that she had been pregnant, but that she had lost the baby. I can tell you from personal experience that their reactions are as real as it gets, from the first realization (I broke the news to her as well) to the anger to the reconciliation.

If the coincidence (or lack thereof) could be any greater, we're engaged for starters, and this fall we're attending Dragon*Con as Simon and Kaylee. This fic brought back all of the feelings I've felt from losing the child to proposing to the intense love that can form between two people who are there for each other through something like this. These might seem like odd words, but they're the only ones I can think of that can come anywhere close to expressing my thoughts and feelings: Thank you.

Chi"
