Okay I'm drunk. That being said, I know more than a few Browncoats may take exception to this post.

If Joss couldn't have gotten his first choices for the cast...Who would play our favorite Serenity crew members (editor's note: I thought of this when I was looking at the BDM pictures in front of the banner)

1. Malcolm Reynolds- I would like to see Marc Blucas take a crack at this role. Granted he looks a little young, but he has the depth, I think.

That's all I'm going to post for now, as I can't see straight. (Don't tell my wife shhhhh)

I love you guys though. Have I ever told you that?

Simon: "It means more out here. It's all I have..."

i could see someone like shiri appleby or claire danes filling the role of inara as they have that similar kind of lost-in-her-eyes type beauty that makes me ache whenever she does the big eyes at mal looks.

/sigh

I'm gonna go ahead on the record and say that I think Oliver Reed could play Wash, though he may be getting on in years. He is such a smart ass...(just watch Diggstown to see what I'm talking about)..Yeah, and he's kinda a little big. But, he has the chops. You know. I'm considering Book right now. But I love Ron Glass so much, being a Barney Miller fan from way back. (I'm only 29 if anyone asks.)

Love you guys.

Yeah, yeah...That's what I meant...I said I was drunk dint I?!?!

Oliver Platt! That's the guy. Book though...Its a thorn in my side! I know someone said Claire Dane for Inara, but I think she'd make a better River than anything else...Mind you, that's not my definitive answer yet...

Pez to you yo!

By the way...I'm really, really sorry...

I'm gonna have to agree with Pez and say Claire Daines would work better as River than Inara.

For other casting, i would say Russel Crowe could play Mal (i'm not really a Crowe fan but the man can act), Kiera Knightly as Kaylee, and James Marsters as Wash.

that's all i got and i am pretty sure it's wrong

you do not need to be so apologetic. i just thought it might be kind of hard for a dead actor to play a character as animated as wash.

Hey we're in the computer age!

I really did mean Oliver Platt...I love that guy!

I've been eyeing Frank Langella as Book. Yeah, I think that'd about match...He's got the pathos and the humor. Even though he's been cast as heavies ever since Zorro in the 70's. He could do it! (Best Dracula ever!)

Kaylee...That's the real thorn in my side...There's no one more carefree who can make you feel for the character like Jewel Staite...except maybe Alyson Hannigan...but she's so not right for this....

Bye bye...and again, I'm sorry I'm so drunk!
Hey! You go to Korea cause you were told to and not get flothered from time to time!

I know this is going to sound crazy, but what about Colin Farrell as Jayne...Look, hes a tough guy, a good looking guy, a crazy guy...Just the same as our favorite, gun toting, goateed turncoat bastard Jayne Cobb.

No disrespect to Adam Baldwin. He was one of my favorite character actors long before he was on Firefly.

I mean, just watch him in The Patriot.

My God He was great in that movie!

David Duchovney for Mal.
He's so good at haunted and tortured - but he thinks he can do comedy, so he'd fit well for a wise-cracking, tortured, haunted character....

And, to keep the balance, we'd have to have Gillian Anderson for Inara. But with dark hair, Inara can't be a blonde (or a red-head!)

Ben Browder for Wash. Can't see him as Mal, but I can as Wash...
And, again for balance, Claudia Black for Zoe. She can DO fighting women.

He may be getting a bit old, but Hugh Grant for Simon. Inept, floppy hair....

Harrison Ford for Book.

I'm stuck on the rest....

Hehe, somehow these threads remain fun even after the 10th go at it... My "Big Name Cast" in no particular order...

Mal ... Ron Livingston
Jayne ... I'll go with Colin Farrell someone else suggested, just to get my wife to watch :)
Inara ... Penelope Cruz, maybe
Simon ... Paul Walker, but would need to be made over to be less 'rouge-ish', and more like the REAL Simon.
Wash ... Martin Freeman (no relation to the Morgan, mentioned below)
Zoe ... Halle Barry or maybe Angelina Jolie
Kaylee ... Leelee Sobieski
Book ... The Harrison Ford suggestion was very good, but Morgan Freeman could add a lot to the role.
River ... I liked the previous Claire Daines suggestion

Somehow I forgot some of the actors from my new favorite TV show, Deadwood! Timothy Olyphant could easily be Mal, and Ian McShane would be an interesting Jayne if he were like 15 years younger. And the guy who plays the Reverend is an excellent actor, but i am not sure how I would place him in the FF 'verse....

I can see Ben Browder (John Crighton from Farscape) as Mal. I think he could pull off the physical/facial/body language aspects of Mal that Nathan does so well, along with the mood shifts (so to speak), humor, and darkness within.

Jason Carter (Marcus Cole from Babylon 5) could probably do a good job as Simon. Cultured, dry wit, subtle sense of humor, and an absolute dedication to his sister...yeah, I can see Jason portraying Simon fairly well.

Just my two bits of course...and I'm VERY glad that it's not an issue.

Captain Cardboard????!!!! Depth???!!!

Sorry man, but what have you seen him in that gives the impression that he can act?

Captain Cardboard as our revered leader. I think I may hurl again.

Being a hero doesn't mean you succeed in saving the day.... it just means you tried.
