Red Dwarves Still After Us, Ewoks Gone Away and TVTalley Still Ours

At Stargate ( http://stargate-news.com/sci-fi-poll-best-in-science-fiction.html) we are at 43.7 (43.7 yesterday) percent today, and 1454 votes, for the best SciFi movie. Star Wars has 663 votes. Vote for Firefly as well as Serenity (where we have 32.5 percent of the vote and Red Dwarf has 30.6, versus 30.7 and 29.1 yesterday). The Dwarves are on a big rampage (with us at 13,573 and them at 12,775). At this point, the Dwarves have been stopped, but they are still after us.

We've seen off the ewoks (adding a couple of hundred in one session seems to have driven them off).
I'm active on stargate (normally a couple of hundred behind at signon, and a few hundred (sometimes more) ahead at the end.

I think (both of) the "heavy hitters" probably picked up their toys and left, based on the posts by "Independant". And I think our "normal" voters probably felt their efforts were a waste of time during the May craziness and got out of the habit on all voting sites, so now we're worse off than when we started.

One thing I'll say for Jericho voters. When they were getting trounced they kept on voting, and are still doing so. Their handful of voters seems to be a bit more dedicated than ours...

There are several boards where Firefly and Jericho fans hang out, and some of those places don't have the "super voters", and many folks at those sites probably don't even know such heavy voters exist. The proxy IP techniqe is time consuming, and I only have time to get out about a hundred votes a day. There were several Broawncoats who were each spending hours a day getting out over a thousand votes. From the middle of May, until about a week ago, it was pretty insane. Looks like our heavy hitters tired out before theirs did (although the snide remarks directed towards our heavy voters didn't help morale much.)

Not sure where you're coming from, Terry. I never said nobody was cheating, I just said (in the section of my post you edited out) that we're not pathetic just because we aren't in first place on every poll. We're not pathetic because lots of good things are taking place on this board and beyond.

Obviously the majority of folks on the board have chosen not to vote hundreds of time per day using proxies - that's just a fact, not a value judgment on my part. People vote their values with their time and efforts, and much effort is being made on this board to support the BDS/BDM and Joss.

And I'm sorry if semantics got on the way of your understanding my point. I wasn't the first here to call it "hacking", and I do know the difference. One definition is "Unauthorized attempts to bypass the security mechanisms of an information system or network." That does apply when you're using proxies to get by the website ISP tracking.

Just because someone makes a foolish statement doesnt mean that you can then repeat it as fact. Cookies are not Security mechanisms. By your definition anyone who waits 6 hours for Tvtally to flush its cache is hacking. However, I suspect you know that and are just being facetious.

Also, note multiple voting at Tvtally is the only one requiring proxies as far as I'm aware, the other sites use different techniques.

Your right though in that the majority of people dont vote hundreds of times, but I dispute your suggestion that they dont support those that do. Just because someone doesnt have the technical knowhow, or time to do it, doesnt mean they dont appreciate those who do. Thats why the call went out for the heavy hitters at the time Jericho started cheating. I dont seem to remember people jumping up and down saying we shouldnt do that. Many of us want to win these polls.

Also, note the definition of a browncoat isnt someone who still has the same email address as when they first joined or someone who frequents this board. The browncoat has spread wide and far and therefore you should not make assumptions.

The point is moot anyway. "Theindependant" sent out a email a couple of days ago to several people (I'm assuming those who asked him to come back once the rout began).
