A New Crew on Serenity Could It Work?

I don't know if there are any threads about this already, but I was thinking what if instead of bringing the original cast back for TV movies or a new series they did like a TV movie where at the end Serenity gets handed over to a new crew and they do a new show based on that crew? Kinda like TNG for Star Trek.

They could do and I would be upset, and then I would watch it, because it is Firefly/Serenity and then I would probably love the show but still miss the old crew. However, I'm sure there would be lotsa openings for guest apperances.

Well I thought about it and dont get me wrong I love the original crew, but they cant fly around space forever doing the jobs they do. Eventually all those people would want off to go in different directions in thier lives.

I would give any version of the show a go that featured any connection to the original. Even if only one of the cast returned or Joss was behind the scenes again.

Whether it would work or not is highly debatable. Especially if all the crew changed. It just wouldn't be the same. If they'd gone on for years with our BDH's then maybe a crew change could, possibly, do something. But with such a short run it would feel like a half-arsed attempt to recapture what never should have been lost.

I still vote for an animated series if we are not gonna get a proper series or movies. At least then there is a chance for the original actors to play the same parts. It's easier to get voicing done than it is to get all the actors to a set. They can fit it around their schedules.

But I fear we'll get nothing....
and still be hoping for more when we are old and grey.

Personally, if it was coming back with a new crew I'd want a new boat too. I mean, unless they're the original characters' children or something, Serenity really wouldn't be theirs.

A new show that focuses on a new crew on a SEPARATE ship?
