There's a comic in the works about Book.

Some rumblings have been heard about a made for tv movie or straight to DVD movie, but they're far far far from substantial. It's mostly just "insiders" speculating from what I can tell. I wouldn't get your hopes up. Mine sure aren't.

But I’ll never say never, I can say not right now, not that I know of, nobody’s said anything to me, I could tell you that. That’s the truth, not right now, nothing right now, that’s the fact, but never say never, I’ve learned that because there’s Serenity of course.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

We hold 'til Mal gets back.

Nathan, Summer, Joss and the others haven't given up hope, so why should we.

In fact, I have my suspicions that the reason the Book comics seem to be stalled is because they're thinking of taking them into another medium. Mini-series, maybe?

Just think. Book backstory, plus meeting crew would be a great way to revitalize the series.

man that would be sweet just love to hear if any yes men in the studios seemed to care about verse as much as the actors and Joss,

when film was being made you could tell there was high up people who went out on a limb to see it though,

or is it best to let the verse live on in our minds and hearts?

I agree!

Seems the Sy/Fy channel is hinting around that they would like to have a Firefly type show preped for 2011. I will support anything that they do as long as their true intentions are to really get FF back ( wishful thinking on my part but I still hold on to hope).

Anyway if Joss, Nathan, Summer and all the regulars are willing and able to remain inspired by Firefly why should I not be? The verse stories are not finished and any creator worth their salt would never leave a story untold or unfinished….it’s in their soul and eats away like intestinal parasite.

The browncoats have waited a long time and are willing to wait longer ( I know I am) for some more humanistic verse stories. Be it mini series or a new tv show entirely I’m there. If all of the original crew can’t make the first season then I totally would understand. As long as there would be 6 or 7 of the original crew I’d be happy.

Now, a shot time ago I just caught Hellboy 2. I will say that the special f/x were astounding!! Can’t say much for the movie bringing me in on an emotional level though. Just couldn’t feel it (my opinion only). I see that it was a Universal distributed movie, so what’s with that? If Universal is still interested in science fiction then why can’t we get Serenity 2? Have they caved in to F*>< pressure?

Also there’s been talk of another Riddick movie. I am all for that but where in the hell is our BDSerenity sequel? I’ve already recruited 12 people into the Firefly fan ship. They are more than ready to see something new come out…..so where is it?

Z, still holdin his part of the line.

I,for one;would LOVE to see a Riddick/Serenity crossover.
Can you picture Riddick and an Operative hunting each other?
Or for that matter, an encounter(coruteous or otheriwse) between Riddick and Jayne??
They should toss that into the creative mix, just to see where the chips fall....

Hang In There , Irish !

We're all in this together , and as long as one Browncoat remains alive , there's always hope...

I got a lot of inspiration from this article , and there's more to it than the blurbs that appear here , so go to the site , and have a good read :

Rebel Alliance
http://www.fastcompany.com/node/798975/print

"...Long before running some of the hottest shows on television, these guys and their peers were just wee-geeks growing up obsessed with archetypal battles of good versus evil and mind-bending special effects. Star Wars epitomized how mainstream such fantasy could be. Star Trek, considerably more low-budget and hammy, with its campy Klingon villains and furry Tribbles, was for the die-hard sci-fi crowd. But both franchises deeply vested legions of powerless kids in their mythological worlds...."

"...And there is one member of the Geek Elite -- their Jedi master -- whom they all point to as their inspiration. "That's the genius of Joss Whedon,..."

'Whedon works in a residential neighborhood, in a Spanish-style bungalow neatly decorated with gothic figurines and framed anime art. "I'm a huge fan of the Final Fantasy film," he says as he heats up a pot of breakfast tea after his run. As his peers attest, Whedon defined a new generation of nerd worship with his iconic late-1990s series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, a cheeky pop-culture powerhouse about a blond teenage demon killer. Then he continued his reign with a Buffy spin-off, Angel, and later Firefly. Today, he's working on his next series, Dollhouse, which follows a young woman who can be imprinted with different identities to accomplish a variety of missions.

While not always runaway hits on the air, Whedon's shows are renowned by his peers for spawning some of the most thriving aftermarket around. Whedon sheepishly admits his shows "do crazy" on DVD, selling hundreds of thousands of copies. Whedon's achievement, say his fellow geeks, is not just creating an isolated TV show but also building a universe that has earned its own nickname, the Whedonverse. As Lindelof puts it, "The Whedonverse was, like, if you have a core fandom, how do you get that core fandom to buy a lot of shit?" And perhaps more important, how do you sell them all that stuff with integrity, so you don't end up burning your biggest fans?

For Whedon, it all comes back to his own years growing up as a fanboy in Manhattan. "I don't understand creators who aren't fans," he says. "My experience as a fan was, things that I loved, I loved very hard -- Marvel Comics, science fiction, Dickens, Shakespeare, Sondheim. The things I was a geek about, I was a serious geek about."

When Buffy started to take off, in 1997, Whedon went to where the nerds were: the Internet. Trekkies and other hard-core sci-fi and fantasy fans were among the earliest settlers on the Net, in newsgroup discussions, early bulletin-board systems, and online games. Whedon's tales of mythological empowerment tapped a new wave of Webby misfits. "They were starting to build clubs, and I was able to get feedback," says Whedon, who maintains an active presence on fan sites devoted to him, such as Whedonesque.com. "I could do a show and go online and see what people thought of it right away," he says. "That's a crazy feeling."

"Joss would email fans of the show, have a Web site where they'd gather, have parties where he'd meet with them," says Alexander. And the more involved the fans got, the more they fed the aftermarket. "I've always believed that the only thing that's important is back end," Whedon says. "I don't care what they pay me as long as there's back-end money, because back-end money is success. Back-end money means people liked it. If someone pays you a huge amount up front, all you get is pressure." But he is quick to add a caveat: "If I don't have a purpose for repurposing -- if there's not a reason to tell a story that way -- then I avoid it."

Whedon is now experimenting with properties that originate online as short video series or Web serials. Part of the incentive is the creative freedom and low production costs. At the moment, he is creating a three-part, 30-minute serial about a hapless villain, called "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog," which he plans to make available for free online. If that show gets picked up in another medium, Whedon will own a greater stake than if the show originated on network television.'

I think it's highly unlikely that Firefly will come back, especially in TV series form, but if it does it'll be HUGE! The fandom of Firely is really something. If it comes back, we'll know that something special has happened.

Having only just discovered the magnificence that is firefly, I dream of stunning comeback.

The fans are so passionate about the show, and its got to have many more millions of fans now then when it aired.

Surely some sort of return is a no brainer for any tv network. It's already got a fan-base, it's guaranteed to make a ton of money in DVD sales and merchandise.

That said, if something makes sense, it usually isn't done.

Hey, there is always a possablilty, now that FOX ( die, die, die) has cancelled TSCC, and Summer is free again, which i read on a TSCC fan site that she was getting ready for another, undisclosed, project there may be hope. But this is all just speculation, she could be doing another totaly diff. show, or a TSCC movie, or something, just throwing that idea out.

I would not only say that it would be huge, it'd be freaking sweet. But if someone starts it up again, and Dark Angel, and TSCC, that would be the perfect trifecta. And i am calling on all my fellow Browncoats, Don't just support Firefly, also support Dark Angel, and TSCC, and try to get them back, AND NOT ON FOX!!!!!!!!!!!!
