Just read Nathan Fillion's tweet re things he's afraid of including bears, crowds and kids singing. what do you all fear/loathe?
My list:
1.Shrieking of any variety. (any high pitched sounds particularly if they are coming from people especially little people aged 6 and under as their shrieking is inhuman)
2.Crowds...especially if they are touching me, I'm inclined to avoid malls and markets etc because people always seem to damn close and more discurteous than usual.I will actually close my eyes and just stand there if it gets too bad (keep in mind I am aspergic...this may have something to do with it)
3.I really can't abide people touching me. I have a 3 second rule for hugs on loved ones...I'm flexible if they are distressed and then they can have 5 seconds.I've worked with kids for 20 years and thought i would become desensitised to my touch-a-phobia, I think it got worse, luckily for them most kids don't care and will cling on long after I want them to let go.
4.I hate hate hate Bad manners. Always smile and say thankyou to anyone who does something for you. always give up your seat for the elderly, infirm, or exhausted looking parents and pregnant ladies.always say exscuse me before you pass by or in front of someone etc etc...curtesy can't kill you.
5. I am afraid of babies....they are super smart and deceptively cute, they can always get me to do what they want, it's freaky because they can't even talk. They also like to share whatever schmurg they have smeared on their hands and faces, I'm extermely scared of schmurg....especially breakfast egg+saliva schmurg,

People with needles. Can't even stand certain sequences from Firefly or the BDM, because of folks being stuck with needles. Hate Doctor shows, and even some cop shows. I consequently hate everybody in the Medical or Dental profession-- it's just a question of time before every single one of them is gonna stab me with something. Which makes life difficult, since I'm a late-middle-aged ( approaching OLD) guy with minor heart problems. I hafta see lotsa doctors-- every single one orders repeated blood tests, gets somebody else to do the dirty work. Every nurse I see wants to stick me, blood tests, injections, IVs. And lab technicians-- not a one of them wants me to pee in a little cup.

1. believe it or not, bare feet touching me. I can take bare feet, and *being* barefoot, but if anyone's feet get near me my skin starts to crawl for some reason.

2. things being near my eyes. I have a tough time in the optometrist's chair, but because i know the health of my eyes is dependent on her looking closely at them i swallow my eekness about it. i'll never ever get lasik because i don't like the idea of someone being near my eye with a sharp implement or laser, or anything of the sort. i saw an episode of ER once where they had to cut a girl's eyelid to drain the blood from behind her eye--i couldn't watch. nooooooooooo way is a needle getting near my eye.

3. anesthesia. the thing i hate most on this earth is the prospect of being knocked out for *anything*. Even though I'm resistant to novacaine, i opted to stay awake for having my still-submerged wisdom teeth pulled because there was no way i was gonna be put out for it. was it painful? fuck yeah, but i'd rather that than be put out.

YERSINIA

Hmmmm. Well, there's a difference between what I'm phobically scared to death about, and what I simply hate and avoid....

Phobic about (in order of severity, equal amounts of cringing and shuddering):

Dentists (I refuse to go at all unless I can find another one who'll do everything under an IV sedation).
Driving (only when I absolutely have to, and never to unfamiliar heavy trafficky places).
Big Dogs (anything bigger than a lap dog).

What I plain and simply don't like, so I avoid as much as possible (mostly just cringing):

Babies and Children (I got spayed to make sure I wouldn't have any)
Crowds (just don't like noise and being squashed)
Doctors (I never go for checkups, only when I know something is wrong with me).
Shopping (all kinds, so only go when I'm desperate for something)
Little Dogs (not afraid of them like big ones, I just find them yappy, smelly and obnoxious)
Microsoft (I'm a Mac person). The only way to get me to use a Windoze box is to PAY me to use one (i.e., only if I'm working, using a computer is part of the job, and all the computers are PCs, not Macs).

Seeing how I've isolated myself so much to avoid what I don't like about life, I could make this list really long, but suffice it to say, I'll just give someone else a chance.

TRAVELER

I'm with you NewOldBrownCoat.

I hate needles. I can take a wound if I slip and fall against something, but that tiny needle just unnerves me. It must be that getting a cut or a knock is a surprise and happens so quickly, I don't have time to think about it, but a doctor or dentist fiddling around with a syringe gives me time to brood about it and that makes it worse.

And it is true. No matter what the reason, for my visit, the doctor needs blood. The doctor always has a good reason and they are ready at an instant to take it.

PLAINJAYNE

I don't deal well with crowds, especially if they're all "nuts-to-buts", and want to be all touchin on me. Makes me long for a heavy stick to start swinging. There are days when I would give all I own for a cattle prod...

I hate hotel/public restrooms. I see any bits lying around the shower area that didn't wash off of me, I am grossed the hell out. People who piss on the goram seat should be taken out and drowned in a vat of their own body fluids. I'm shuddering just thinking about it. GAH! I don't go in the pool or hot tub either...GROSS!!!!!!

I am phobic about spiders and zombies. An undead zombie spider would probably be enough to make me fall over dead from sheer panic. I don't want to know about anything having more than four legs, and if that makes me as species-ist, so be it!

And I hate feet. I could be up to my elbows in buts and guts and never flinch or bat an eye. Blood don't bother me (or pretty much anything else.) But don't drag out your nasty goram yellow-toenail three inch thick fuckin eagle claw with your flaky skin fungus feet in my presence or I swear I'll vomit all over you! GAH!

Day late an'a dollar short...Story of my ruttin' life!

Not the eyes!

Most people have wince responses if they see something happen to eyes. Their eyes, other people's eyes, doesn't matter. It's an ingrained flinch.

I once accidentally scrapped a pencil across mine. I'm lucky I didn't lose it.

ooooH all good fears and loathes. I also hate feet... not all feet just the too white and perfect looking ones. I have a deep distrust of any adult with perfect white feet, with toes that have never been broken. I also distrust adults with small perky/perfect noses. there's something not quite right about them...I only trust people with obvious surface flaws, I feel they've lived a life and have nothing to hide. as for crowds, carry a closed umbrella, you can use it as a barrier if people get too close. I find carrying it upside down (Handle closest to the ground) as if I'm about to wield it tends to keep people back a metre or so.Giving people furtive crazed looks at regular intervals and muttering to yourself while pointing at nothing helps too...this has the added bonus of creating entertainment value when I'm bored people's reactions to things are priceless. I hate people who stand too close to me when I'm waiting in a queue. I always ask them to move back politely and if that doesn't work I will explain to them slowly and patronizingly that they will not get served any faster if they are invading my personal space.

Ugh! perfume. I don't mind natural aromatherapy based fragrances etc, but I'm with you on the perfume thing. I'm in a class of 60 for my speech path degree, only 2 of them are men and most of the rest are women aged 19-25. I sit at the front and gag most days from all of the designer wince-aromas wafting down from around the room. What's the point of it? apparently it makes people feel good to smell nice. I get that, but most perfumes smell terrible especially the designer ones. I have it on good authority (i.e. the kids at work)that I always smell nice like dessert. What's my secret? soap, water and moisturiser. (I favour honey, citrus, cinnamon, fig and cocoa butter products)

RIPWASH

Um . . . let's see.

Spiders, for sure. They give me the willies. That part in "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" in the Dark Forest with all the spiders . . . really weirds me out. Ugh . . . *shudder* Also watched "Arachnophobia" in it's entirety in the theater with my knees in my chin because I didn't want to put my feet down.

I guess add big bugs of any kind to that. Ick.

Poking my belly button. I know. Weird, huh?

I don't like those pictures of the dogs or cats where their heads are disproportionately larger than the rest of their bodies. Can't stand those.

Asparagus. Probaby a childhood thing, but don't ever dare make me eat one of those nasty things again.

Heights and/or falling from them. Never used to bother me that much before, but I don't like looking straight down from anything over three stories tall. I can look out and over, just not down. Makes me real nervous.

Zombies, too, I guess Watched Shaun of the Dead really late one night - finished it at around 1:30 a.m. and found myself a little terrified of the dark for some reason.

Also that internet video of the skating babies is more than a little disturbing if you ask me.

Ok it's taken two weeks for me to come up with just a few of the things that truly make me cringe, Yah, I know I'm a quick one, ya don't haave to rub it in 'K?

The song- In The Highways from the O Brother, Where Art Thou soundtrack (which was the only thing that my daughter would fall asleep to when she was a baby-still haven't figured that one out) also Lou Christie's Lighning is Striking Me Again (I wished it would!)and B.E.P's My Humps EEEK! For that matter any song that repeats one or two choruses (chorii?) over and over and over and over and over and OVER neeeeed to die!

People on the internet who pretend they are smarter than everyone else on the planet... Everyone is stupid-just about different things...

99.97% of extremist behaviors

All of propaganda(and for those who truly understand the nature of propaganda- Yes, I get that is a large catagory, I can't help that, I still want to run away...

Wooden Popsicle sticks. Nothin' like sawdust flavored Ice Cream -Yummm!

The fifth Highlander movie and The Tale of Desperaux-don't ask!

Televangelists

Insects that attack

Fingernails bent backwards

Excessively bloody movies

People who NEVER EVER stand still

People who urinate in public

Zits in those sensitive areas around the nose or mouth, oh!

Hollywierd producers that screw over shows I like!

Oh and that vomit emoticon on the left side of your screen, and all vomit for that matter...

ewwwwww!

Fear:

Marionettes...give me the willies.
Eearwigs. Not fond of most bugs, but those especially, tho' I get along fine with spiders as long as I don't have to touch them.
To quote another "Heights, heights, heights!"

Loathe:

Political nutjobs who are fanatical about it
Perfume (cannot GO past the perfume counter!)
Vegetables (except artichokes, which I could live on)
Crowds in parties; elsewhere, just "dislike"
People who hurt other people, animals, etc. (that should actually be No. 1!)
Religious zealots and prosletizers
Bigots and racists and all kinds of closed minds

and oh, yes, I FULLY agree about trolls!!

AND producers too stupid to recognize a magnificent concept, cast, writing, and everything else!
