Firefly is one of the most entertaining and engaging shows I have ever watched and I think one of the best shows ever made but there is no letter campaign thats going to bring it back. So I am resorting to cash! Thats right cash, I'm hoping there are Firefly fans out there willing to do the same thing.

Mister Whedon please give me your PayPal account information and I will gladly send you the $12 a month I currently send my cable company for a premium channel to help fund the production of new Firefly episodes.

The heck with a mamby pamby letter writing campaign, I say lets take destiny into our own hands and make history by making Firefly the first "subscription" fan funded show in TV history.

There are currently 169,481 Firefly fans on Facebook alone, how many would be willing to throw a few bucks a month to Joss to produce new episodes?

Well the balls in your court Joss, let us know when you want to start.

It's more then just money even if you had the money for new episodes you would still have to fine a channel willing to carry it then get sponsors.

you can't anger me.

I believe we could get a direct fan funding of episodes without the channel's involvement, but it would take organizing 500,000 fans. Even with the huge popularity of the show, it is no small task, but then again, nothing worth doing is easy.

500,000 people, eh?

Hmm, how many people follow the BDH's on facebook altogether, I wonder?

A channel, I wouldn't care if it was posted on Amazon's Video on Demand or Hulu, though SyFy channel would be nice. Any way since you would assume anyone that would contribute money would also watch the show you could offer a potential channel a guaranteed minimum audience that night be attractive to a sponsor.

I think it would be pretty easy to set up IF the fans supported it. If we had 500,000 fans pre-buy a Season of DVDs at $40 pop that's enough money to break even on producing a 13 episode season. Everything else (VOD, cable rights, foreign, etc) is gravy.

If my movie does well, my producer and I will be more than happy to talk to Joss and set up the legal structures, and website.

BTW It is really looking like Gina Torres (Zoe) is going to play the lead now- nothing in my power will change that.

If they had all or most of the original cast I would gladly pay $50 per episode for new Firely.

Maybe someone should contact Whedon and get some actual numbers out there. Just round numbers about how much it would take.

I would love it, but doesn't Fox still own the TV rights?

Put me down for $50 a show.

America loves a winner!

I don't have that kind of $$

I've already paid. In DVDs, movie tickets, and a host of other products.

Others have done more, but I've done my share.

The T.Rex they call JANE!

That is a point that I think many have, their love of the with standing.
That is why I don't think getting the show back "on the air" conventionaly speaking would work.
I believe the best shot would be "airing" it on a service like Amazon's Video on Demand.
They have a system already in place and you are realistically going to raise more capital renting, or pre-selling, episodes at under five bucks than you are thinking people are going to chip in forty bucks an episode.

I don't think new episodes are really realisitic, but I do think that animated adventures direct to video are. Most of the cast has done voice over work in recent years and I think they would be really open to lending their talents if done right. I wish Universal, Dark Horse, or the powers that be would realize this. Yes, it's not live action, but it could have great potential. I really wish we'd get a few bones thrown our way a little more often.

I realize this next point is a bit off topic:
It's a bummer that this franchise and 'verse go so unexplored. I understand Joss wants to keep the quality high, but why can't we get some spin off novels of another ship's crew? Aside from some stuff QMx is making (atlas, cross section), we're getting NOTHING in new content. While there are a lot of really bad Star Wars novels, a lot of them are very good (Timothy Zahn, James Luceno). From what I understand, Joss didn't give the okay to new novels. Maybe he'll have a change of heart.

"why can't we get some spin off novels of another ship's crew?"

Now THAT I have thought about.
I've got some ideas for script on a spin-off.

What is the number on that Research and Rescue ship from Serenity?
Research and Rescue Ship C57D

There is your spin-off!

R&R, sort of a "tow-truck in space".
Seek and find, rescue, repair, medics and mechanics.

Ambulance, Firetruck, rescue vehicle, and whatever they find along the way to the next job.

Can't stop the signal.
