Ok the Hyatt and Hilton have started taking reservations so you need to book now. They will only let you reserve one room. Your card won't get charged so you can still cancel and all ( and also all of us who have maxed out our cards at D*C won't die)

for Hyatt go to

resweb.passkey.com/go/dragoncon2010

you must book now!!!!! even if you think it's a billion to one shot book a room and help out a fellow browncoat who might not get the message in time. You can always transfer the room to someone else if you can't go:)

No lie, G.I.!

D*C attendance continues to climb! If you don't book early, you miss out, especially since we have to compete with the football fans for rooms. I've heard that some non-convention guests have caught wind of the D*C block rates, and are taking advantage of them, too.

If you can't afford to stay in a con hotel, there are nearby hotels (walking distance). The Days Inn on Baker is pretty good, but is also booking up faster in recent years. Parking there is also cheap, and they have a decent restaurant downstairs.

This year, the missus and I stayed at the Baymont, just down from the Sheraton, this year, but they charge $15/night for PARKING. Also, no fridge/microwave, and the rooms were along an exposed outside hallway. Not so cool for our $95/night (plus exorbitant taxes).

Do your homework, make sure that you get what you're promised when making reservations, and get your rooms lined up early!

MalsWay and I stayed at the Wyndham which is right behind the Baymont. Quiet, inside access, but $150-sum-odd per night plus taxes. When we booked in February, all of the main hotels were already filled up, and all of the D*C rooms at the Wyndham were already taken. The Wyndham normal rate was the same as the Hyatt D*C rate!

In 2008, mai was able to book the International Tower at the Hyatt in MARCH.

Eep.

Yeah I went to book in December ( having booked in january for '08) and there were no rooms. I got lucky in that someone else had reserved an extra marriott room and didn't need it otherwise we would have been too far off site for me to attend ( never ever doing con while 8 months pregnant again)

I don't see a place to request a room in the tower, is that an option somewhere??

Days Inn is where I've stayed up to now, and it's nice; one advantage over at some of the con hotels is that the WiFi is free, and even works sometimes.

I think I am going to try to do the Marriott next year though. Anyone know when the Marriott's con room reservation opens and how you get to it?

EDIT: never mind, I just saw on the d*c website that they open Oct 1st.

It's my understanding that those towers are reserved for official Guests of the con, plus overflows. So for those who try to book a room a month or two before the con might end up in one of the towers.

Just called the Hyatt and they won't even take phone reservations for Dragon*Con. They gave the same address but it says there isn't any available! What's the next best place?

I booked a room at the Hilton again after a great experience there this year. I think the online con-rate code is DGC (look on the D*C Rooms LiveJournal community to be certain). After taxes and everything, it's about $210 a night, but you can split that to make it more manageable.

Never mind finally got the Hyatt website to work. Here's hoping for a very prosperous year to afford it!

book now even if you don't have the money since they won't charge your credit cards:) Must book now. Everything is filling up fast. October 1 the Marriott opens booking and it's anticipated to sell out that day.
Yes Rose apparently we should have booked while we were there...argh
