Lady Jewel,

Greetings from San Antonio, Texas! It is great to hear from you! Your schedule must be nuts! The fact that you find time to drop us a line means more than you know, and as someone else said, it's good to hear from the womenfolk.

I'm glad all you guys are having such a good time on the set. I cannot wait to see what all the cast and crew's love has wrought come April. It will be the perfect birthday gift for me!

Take care of yourselves and each other! Keep Flyin'!

A big hello to Jewel, and thank you from a kiwi fan for stopping by. Yep there are Browncoats even as far afield as New Zealand.

It's so wonderful to read your thoughts on the movie, we are so proud of what you and the rest of the BDH's have managed to accomplish. Can't wait for the movie to release next April!

Jewel thank you so much for taking time from your busy schedule to post here and tell us how things are going on the BDM.

We are so happy to know that you and the rest of our BDHs are out there in Hollywood making Serenity even as some of us are reading these posts. It makes us browncoats all warm and fuzzy inside to know that Joss and the cast are doing the impossible. It makes the pins & needles of waiting until April more bearable.

Take care, wish all the cast our best, and post when you can. You are most welcome here to our humble site.

Hearing from you makes all the difference. You are the greatest group of people. The limbs I would give to work on a show with any of you. We love being kept in the loop of the filming. I worked the Trek Expo here in Tulsa and proudly talked up the movie to anyone who would listen, and a few that wouldn't. Your posting here validates us. Thanks so much for the update Jewel, it's a pleasure to hear from you! We're so glad that you were able to figure out how your laptop worked for the moment ;) We appreciate any and all updates and thank you kindly. It's great to see you as a lead, you are an amazing actress and I've been a fan since way back when. You definitely deserve to be a lead! We're all excited about the movie and we know the whole cast is working hard and let's keep it that way :) We can't wait to see the movie and we know you are all making us proud. Anyway ... I look forward to seeing you on the big screen! ... What a journey it has been since Flash Forward eh?!

BTW, I am not sure if you want to give this away but I hope that you get to put your vocal talents to work in this movie 'cause I remember you having a great voice in a song you sang on HG.

Well, since I didn't bother to read more than 30 or so of the 70+ replies to this topic, you might not either, and I probably won't be saying anything that hasn't already been expressed (and probably using the same words), but. . .

"Firefly" is an amazing phenomenon. There is not a single person I know who has seen it and not fallen in love with the show immediately. The fact that everyone is as shiny off-screen as they are on-screen is rare, and makes the show even more special. I hope you and everyone else realize that means a lot to the fans, to know that we're part of "the gang" and not something to be avoided.

That would make you all Big Damn Heroes even if the movie never happened, but you all have done the impossible, and that makes you mighty. You're the best mechanic in the 'verse, so keep Serenity flyin'!

K, so I'm just going to say the same as everyone else - thanks and good luck. I think perhaps that, until my first child is born or whatever, sending that letter to universal is going to rank as one of the best things I've done in my life (although I'm sure it was pebbles in the ocean in terms of actually achieving anything :>)

But: so cool! If there's anything any of the cast/crew/extended-family-of-any-member-of-the-cast -or-crew need, like a place to stay in England, or legal advice, let me know :P

I seem to be particularly incoherent this morning.

Hello Jewel,

Wow, my favourite of our great BDHs posting here on this very site. I'm gobsmacked, this has just made my day!

Many thanks for taking the time to post. "Firefly" really is a unique phenomenon; I've never known any other television programme or film where the cast and crew have such an obvious synergy with the fans, and if anything that fact makes me even more proud to be a Browncoat. It's very obvious that wonderful things are happening with the making of "Serenity" and means so much that you gave us your thoughts.

Please come over and see all your fans in the UK again soon, and in the meantime, keep that ship flying!

Hi,

I believe I spoke to you on the OB. I didn't mention it at the time, because I know how annoying it is to have missed something that you could have gone to, but Starfury conventions that I told you about also ran a Buffy event earlier this year. Nathan Fillion, Jewel Staite and Summer Glau attended. The following is a link to people's reports about it:

http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=2&t=5020

And this is a report from the City of Angel website:

http://cityofangel.com/behindTheScenes/bts4/fusionHapps.html

I believe Joss Whedon also attended a convention in the UK a few years ago. I can't remember the name but I think it began with an N. I'm not sure. And Jane Espenson who wrote the episode Shindig was at a convention called The Harvest a year or so ago.

If you want to know anything about any of these let me know.

Also if someone else would like to reply here I'm sure it would be appreciated by Obsidian as I keep hijacking her threads and she probably wishes I would go someplace that's not here.

I'm useless meeting Firefly/Buffy cast or anyone for that matter.

I think I was accidently pretty rude to Jewel Staite at the convention, which I feel really bad about. So if she reads this then I apologise profusely. I was having a group photo taken with her, Nathan Fillion and Summer Glau. I get hugely nervous in photos. Firstly I hate having my photo taken and secondly those things are like those military operations where someone shouts 'go' and it's literaly in and out at light speed. So you have no time to overcome the horrible fear and dizziness at meeting the cast. So when Nathan Fillion put his arm round me in the photo in all the confusion of thinking 'Oh my Joss! Nathan Fillion just put his arm around me' I had my back to Jewel Staite and completely ignored her. It was not at all intentional but was completely rude of me. So if she does ever read this I really do apologise.

Then meeting James Marsters (I'm good with the name dropping here aren't I?) he signed a picture for me and I managed to tell him about five times before I left how fantastic it was that he had signed his name. Oh dear.

So I am like the worst people person ever, but in the end you have to risk making a fool of yourself in order to meet this amazing cast. The chance that they'll remember every person that they meet is pretty small anyway.

I don't know whether you have heard the stories on the board of the extra in the movie who got to meet most of the cast. If that had been me I'd never have made the most of it. I'd just have sat there eating lunch on my own, done my scene and then left. I'd never have been brave enough to approach Adam Baldwin or Summer Glau like he did.

I know what you mean (you lucky thing you)and I think my body subconsciously tries to foil my every attempt, I have been sick or injured at every event I have atttended.

I travelled down to London Expo last Oct with really bad flu with the express purpose of meeting Michael Madsen, after queuing for what seemed like an eternity I was finally stood face to face with the man with my nose streaming, a pounding headache, a high temperature and was struck dumb. Fortunately my quickwitted friend interjected at explained that I was not well and the wonderful man put his hand on my brow, gave me a hug and told me to get home to bed (advice that I subsequently ignored but lovely all the same).

This year I'm improving slightly, actually managed to speak a few words to Corin Nemec and Armin Shimmerman (start with the least threatening)and beginning to think injuries are the key. Was involved in accident after intimate Ghost of the Robot gig (name dropping - who me?)before May's Expo and was on crutches which seemed to give me the sympathy vote. Spent a good ten minutes cuddled up to Craig Parker as a result and was able to get some great pics. Maybe I'll have to start breaking bones on a regular basis, it could be the key!

I'm so jealous that you got up close and personal with Nathan, but there's always time.

Take care

Nathan said he'd be back in the UK. I think he might even go to the Serenity con so I'm sure you'll get your chance. I wont deny that he was amazing to meet. I forgot to say that also Jonathan Woodward who played Tracy in The Message will be at the White Room in October. Also James Marsters and David Boreanaz are now holding a con in London that weekend. i posted a thread about it with more info somewhere.

ZOE: "Big damn idiots, sir."

There's no official date yet. I supspect it will be next year and there was talk about doing it to coincide with the movie release or to work around the movie release. I'm not sure.

www.starfury.co.uk has a thread on their messsage board about it but mostly it's just speculation on there at this point.

I had my back to Jewel Staite and completely ignored her. It was not at all intentional but was completely rude of me. So if she does ever read this I really do apologise.

I managed to be rude to her as well. When having the autographs done I was so nervous I couldn't even look at her, I spoke to the guy sitting next to her instead. I also repeated the same sentance five times! She gave me a strange look. Oh well, hopefully she will read this a know I am not a lunatic.

Meeting Summer wasn't too bad. I managed to gibber something about liking ballet.

Meeting Nathan was embaressing. The first thing that popped out of my mouth was 'I think I'm going to faint'. I had a script I wanted him to sign and he asked where I had got it. I said 'it came in the post'.

I am just so uncool in the prescence of the BDH's. Won't stop me attending Serenity though.

Glad to know I'm not the only one. (That came out wrong. It's not that I want lots of people to be rude to Jewel. I think I should stop digging now)

No that's cool - sounds kinda mysterious!

Good for you! Me neither. However exams and or lack of money might, unfortunately. I hope it's in the holidays.
