Been lurking since before the series was cancelled but decided to change that.

hi Ya'll

Just saw on SciFi.com a little tidbit from Alan Tudyk on Serenity.

Never posted a link before, hope this works.

Great article! Everyone seems so excited to be doing the BDM!

Also, zap2it.com has some pics from the Dodgeball premiere. Here's one of Alan, looking quite regal:

Apparently, David Boreanez was there too:

Thanks for the link, Barnstormer. I only check sci-fi wire about once a week and might have missed this. Thanks very much.

In other news, gawd! I am ass over teakettle in love with Alan Tudyk.

Howdy, BarnStormer!

Goood delurk...

So, it's official: When Firefly comes back to network TV it's gonna be on NBC. That's my prediction. NBC buys the rights from Fox and we get Firefly the Series every week. Woo-hoo! NBC's primetime lineup is in the dumper, right now, with the end of Friends and Frasier. Firefly would be a good bet, without the go-zillions per ep for the cast members, and starts with an 'F' to boot. It's the perfect Thursday night replacement...

BTW, I looked it up in Revelations: "And the seventh angel broke the seal and behold, Alan Tudyk in a suit and tie." The end is near...

Deeply hoping God has a sense of humor,

Heh, thanks for that. I can hear Alan's voice saying that...
And Zoid, don't worry, God does have a sense of humour. My proof? Humanity. If whoever came up with them... er, I mean us (looks around nervously) didn't have a sense of humour, I'll eat Jayne's hat.

MAL: "Well, look at this! Appears them boys at Fox have decided to cancel us. What does that make them?"
ZOE: "Big damn idiots, sir."
MAL: "Ain't they just."

I might have to check that for myself... but I think you're right.

Doesn't Universal own the sci-fi channel? Or aren't they at least talking abotu buying it? Seems to me that a movie series and/or a sci-fi channel mini-series are the more likely routes that FF would take in the future... of course, if the BDM costs Universal $50m and they make, say, $250m (when you figure in global theatre and DVD sales) they just might consider putting it onto NBC, I s'pose...

mrgreen:

I was basing it on the last paragraph of the article:
Quote:

...Serenity is tentatively set for release on April 22, 2005. Universal Pictures is owned by NBC Universal, which also owns SCIFI.COM.

Of course, they do own SciFi channel, too. But I'd really like to see Firefly on a major network, since they've never been on one before. It'd be nice to see our BDH's get the primetime Big3 treatment, with the largest possible audience.

And of course, NBC did "NYPD Blues", which means nudity and adult language is not out of the question...

Respectfully,

zoid

Ya, I figured that was your basis... I hope that FF can return to TV in some form or another, but from all accounts it looks unlikely :( :( :(

Ah well, at least we get our BDM!

Sorry, NYPD Blue is on ABC and always has been.

NBC has probably scheduled fewer sf shows over the years than any of the big three original networks. It is very difficult for a genre show to get ratings high enough to stay on any of them, though. Most successful sf/horror/fantasy in the last decade has been on FOX, the WB, UPN, in syndication, or on cable.

So I'd think the SciFi Channel a much more likely part of NBC Universal to air a reborn Firefly. They also own the USA network, another possibility.

I'm with ya on all that, Cardie. Might I also add that NBC is not afraid to "graduate" its cable units' shows to the main network for promo purposes, e.g. Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. There may be others. So there's always an outside chance that should FF be reborn on Scifi or USA, it could show up on the biggie -- hopefully to stay!

Oops, heh-heh. Well, it just goes to show what I think of network TV, in general; ask me what's on Discovery Science or G4 Tech, on the other hand...

Still, I knew it was one of those stations, and if one of 'em can show Jimmie Smits' skunk ass, they all can, right? Now if we can just get Joss to install a shower in Inara's shuttle...

Hygienically,

zoid
