7 years of customer service or IT will crush the soul of even the most ruthless philanthropist or irrepressible optimist.

Been there, done that, staked the idiot.

This is my understanding of the origin of flammable:

Inflammable comes from the root word to inflame. So, inflammable means able to inflame.

Unfortunately, in English, the prefix "in" means "not." So, marking things with the word inflammable has made some people think that things are not combustible when in fact they are. Lives have been lost.

So, the word "flammable" came into use and is the much better word to use for combustible.

Maybe it's time for a change of pace/career? :\ *hugs*

*GASP* I have a moshing emoticon!!!! granted, it's not an individual spazzoutmoshing, but it's still fun

Solar: thanks for that well thought out response :) and yeah, the prefix does tend to make things a tad confusing :\ I vote we change the meaning/get rid of 'inflammable' for the sake of clarity >_o

lolz I love that quote XD

English is a very non-specific language compared to some others (not to mention conversational English alone can get way convoluted). Structurally speaking, we're subject heavy; verb conjugation isn't affected much by the subject (I, he, they, we, you), but in a lot of other languages it is-- each subject (or almost every subject) has a different verb ending.

I've had that very sensation!

Blarg. I've spent 20 hours at work and at least 10 hours on homework in the past three days. I can't believe these are supposed to be 'lower-level' design classes. I don't know how the people who don't really know what they're doing keep up with the workload. Free time is become a thing of the past.
I still have to design a logo by tonight. And do a few other things. I worked on these things for three hours last night, and they're still not all done. Crikey >.<

Hey all,

PR, I don't get how you can do design work with this level of workload unless it works on the level of practise and performance for musicians and I wouldn't want to be examind on that.

I'm sat icing bits of my body, I'm meant to be washing up and revising but my other half sneakily put on House, not fair, really ought to start.

Yikes!! I would need some serious chill time after a day (or days) like that.

No, no! Procrastination is bad, procrastinators are good as they wind time but procrastination is bad when you have 8 days to an exam! Still getting there but need a lot less life going on to aid revision!

As for icing, stupid football injuries, running around and kicking a ball = bad apparently, will stick to weights until exam is out of the way and I can get some running done!

HUGS Rose.. see that's part of the weeding out process. If you don't know how to do it and can't figure it out you can't keep up and drop out... sadism in schools:)

Sigh I remember those days working full time while full time in school.. makes brains 'splody. It does end though and it is worth it:)

HUGS Gee..have you a revision binder?? ( As I understand it that's the essential component)

In certain areas of the field, heavy workload is common. I think logo design in particular must be grueling, since one is expected to come up with several concepts for every client, and believe me coming up with a logo isn't really a snap, let alone several. I would hate trying to come up with five or six completed logos to be judged by a client, while faced with the dread that they would all be turned down
Probably something I'll have to get used to, though, if I want to be a career designer.

...I might just run screaming from the room now.

Just wait.. you'll get done and then for the first few weeks you'll have this odd sensation of not having anywhere to go as your brains struggles to accept you're no longer having classes

well no revision binder but do have a4 spiral notepad of revision topics now revised down to a final list of sections and exercise to revise/do and a lot of notes in the handbook I take into the exam.

Washing up and an early night, that's what is needed.

Catch you all tomorrow!

HELL'S KITTEN

........I have a flickr account.
Some of you may know this.
I post my pictures to my flickr account.
Again, known to some.

I do that for the purpose of showing the photos to some people I know or for the purpose of having a stable link, should I want to post the photos elsewhere.

If people see these photos, and they like them - yay me. If they see these photos, and like them, and then post that they like them - double yay me, and thanks for the kindness.

I do not, however, post my photos so random people passing by can tell me how they would have done it differently. Here is a good example:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/sara013/3979958505/

I have spent hours on top of hours on top of HOURS - most likely for a total time of at least a few whole days - creating the case for my teeny MP3 player by hand, using simply hand tools and raw materials like wood and brass sheeting. And I posted progress to show some people that I know sort of follow my flickr stream. And Random Guy wandered by and felt the need to tell me how he would have done it. Really? That was necessary?

Perhaps my reply was a bit snarky, and maybe he won't appreciate it if he sees it, but maybe that will lead him to not telling me how to fucking create my own fucking art again. Stupid sonuva

Went to check dammit, the pretties you make are of teh awesomeness and from an outsider's point of view, it kinda (yeah, kinda) reads like he thought you would like some suggestions on how to improve the looks of it. Dunno what the dude was on, but I think he just saw one or two shots and thought he could make comments that you might appreciate.

We, on the other hand, know and love your work (and admire it greatly...sadly, I have neither the equiptment nor patience right now to even think of attempting that kind of pretty...) and yeah...You were really gentle with this guy (really ninjakitty, you barely scratched him...and you missed his spleen ).

So yeah, he meant well, but he's a clueless sonuvatwitch (yes, I mean twitch...he'd be an insult to bitches and witches) and you were really nice to him.

*bribes ninjakitty with additional stash of Eggos, macnuts, lehua honey, guava jelly, passionfruit (lilikoi) jelly, and a bag of Mauna Loa macnut kisses*
*adds side stash -- not ninjakitty's of the same to the breakfast bar for teh pancakes and waffles*
