Ya know something, it could also work if you're a Miami Hurricanes/Georgia Bulldawgs fan.

Ok, that's a stretch.............but thanks for the post. Anyways, I feel your pain. The Browns are going through a transition period right now or growing pains. I'm a Giant fan and we had those lean days for many a year, until we got good and I got rid of my crying towel.

CORTEXOVERRIDE

When Mal beats up The Operative and walks over to the computer and places the disc into the disc reader, the words that appear on the screen are:

--Cortex Override--
-Initiate Broad Wave-
--Send-All--
And also 'Hackers' is one of my favorite movies of all time and the main characters screenname was Crash Override.

ANGELLEMARCS

Sometimes you just need to stop, breathe deep, and scream.

She is my pen name as well as a character in a novel I am writing. Been around longer than Firefly and is what most people know me as online.

FLATTOP

My favorite line from Hackers:
"Spandex. It's a privilege, not a right."

My Username comes from two personal sources:
1. I spent 10 years in the US Navy, serving aboard aircraft carriers, aka Flat Tops.
2. I've kept my hair cut in a flat top for the last 20 or more years.

KAREL

Flying on duct tape and a damaged registry.

I had been lurking on fff.net since Jan 2003 (!), posting anonymously here and there. In spite of all the shiny peeps, I was too shy to join, believe it or not. Then, it was time for the BDM, and a "Thanks, Haken!" thread came up. That did it. I needed a screen name, and quick. "Karel" popped into my head.

Karel was the name of one of my D&D characters from a long time ago. His name came from Karel Husa, a famous Czech music composer.

I've always pronounced it like "kuh-REL", but it is actually the Dutch and Eastern European spelling of "Karl" or "Carl". "kuh-REL" sounds more erudite. Some would say sophomoric.

GORRAMGROUPIE

My name is not so inspiring.
I chose groupie because when I joined, I felt like I was inviting myself to the big party. So I imagined everyone thinking "Oh great, here's another ******** groupie!" Luckily, I was proven totally wrong on that count. And Gorram, because I wanted to replace the stars with an expletive that wouldn't get me banned. So I am a GorramGroupie.

WASHNWEAR

When I first started lurking here it seemed that many handles were variations or plays on FF characters' names. The character I felt I had the most in common with - personality-wise, anyway - was Wash. "Wash 'n' wear" was a phrase I remembered from my childhood, and is defined by YourDictionary.com thusly -

wash-and-wear - designating or of fabrics or garments that need little or no ironing after washing

I don't think that's been such a big distinction in clothing for quite a while now (most everything in my closet and dresser is wash 'n' wear...whether it was intended to be or not).

Man, that's a long way to travel for an explanation that's pretty evident to begin with. But somewhere way up at the top of the page, somebody asked...

ROXYFREEFALL

Woman, you are completely off your nut.

Mine is pretty simple. I chose it cuz it's my fav comic character from my fav comic; Roxanne "Freefall" Spaulding from Gen 13.

(fav cover ^^)

Just always loved her. I used to have the SN "Freefall953" everywhere, but I thought it would be good to use a name that wasn't so androgynous.

Also, for those that remember (Karel ), I first started on the boards as "Chyna". That was the name of a character from my fav book Intensity by Dean Koontz; Chyna Shepard. Though everyone thought it was after the wrestler so I thought a change was in order.

RoxyFreefall suits me much better.

BLUEEYEDBRIGADIER

Hey all! Long time, no verbal spewage!

In any case, my user name comes from an idea for a story I had around the time I started visiting FFF.net, where Mal, Jayne, Simon and an OC that was gonna be something of a self-insert had to stage a daring commando style raid on a facility holding the good ladies of Serenity captive. The hilarious part is that since it's Zoe, Inara, Kaylee and River...they're not staying captive long, and the guys would hilariously bump into the escaping ladies during their attempt to break in

Name mainly comes from the fact that, with the OC included, the "rescuers" are all blue-eyed and the new character was gonna crack a joke about the "blue-eyed brigade" going off to save their "brown-eyed Amazon warrior women"...or something like that. Been awhile since the idea got put on the back burner, so the initial brilliance of the humour involved has tarnished over time

Still, my user name got used to refer to a high-ranking Browncoat officer in the third part of ScrewtheAlliance's story series, so the idea got used for flanfic eventually

RYCE

My maiden name, if said fast and totally mispronounced and misspelled, could sound like Krispies. So in high school, my math teacher decided to call me Rice Krispies for two years, and the name stuck. On other boards I can be found as MageAshke ("Beloved Mage" from Mercedes Lackey books) or Imzadi

No power in the 'verse can stop me!

CHAPTERANDVERSE

I am a writer and editor so Chapter made sense and Verse explains itself.
Didn't really think of the religious connotations until afterwards, but figured it could be interpreted as a nod toward Shepard Book.
