I'm glad you liked the recipe solar :) I've many other super easy ones for all occasions if you want them.

HUGS HK.. emailing you in a sec with it.. you're too sweet

yes Kelkhil.... kitty got your tongue??? ( put it back HK...giggle)

HUGS Gorram

I think it'd be easier to enjoy if I weren't so nuts right now.... need baby to arrive so I can see him and be sure all is well. Hard to tell if all is ok when he's inside. PLus doesn't help that virtual strangers have continuously felt the need to tell me all their " what went wrong in pregnancy" stories...

Little John is fine, I'm sure of it. He's been active, and he's developing properly, right? Not coming early is a good thing, is it not? If it'll make you feel better, I can ask my mom about everything that went right, and how healthy I was being a semi-late delivery
OR I can ask her about meditation techniques to soothe the savage hormones

HUGS I am sure he's likely fine it's just home stretch and there's still so many things that could possibly go wrong it makes one a bit paranoid. Also doesn't help that there are no guidelines to tell you what is " normal" since every woman has a different labor and most are radically different it's impossible to predict what anything means or know what is going on.... which I find stressful because I like to have a concrete plan and " um well might be something or it could be nothing or it might mean right away or it possible means he's coming in a week or so " is basically what ever single " sign of labor" means. Seriously you can be having regular contractions and have your water break and still not be in labor, or you could have contractions you can't feel and have your water break and you not know it, or it could be you're not having contractions , but suddenly they start... it goes on and on... I should stop now before you all have to put your fingers in your ears and flee... ( ooops too late in some cases....come back I promise to stop all the pregnancy talk!)
Not coming early is fine, just not what I wanted:)

All kidding aside, forget about the horror stories, just try to take it easy and keep NVG babying YOU, you deserve it for doing this. My wife has bad sciatica, and was in bed for most of her pregnancies, but the kids came out fine without serious issues, so like you said, everyone is different.

Required for the degree I'm after, yes. It's called Design&Color, and it has been a shitstorm of worthless busywork since the very beginning. Half the 'projects' have been third grade level cut-and-paste; none of them will end up in my portfolio and are a waste of paper, glue, and in one case acetate. The day of our midterm we had a paper due (a paper in a class that's supposed to be about design!) that was supposed to be a minimum of 1000 words. Also due that day was yet more tedious busywork on a poster exhibit that was in the area. I spent the two days leading up to the midterm knocking myself out to get everything done, as well as study for the test itself, and at about three that morning, everything was done. At last.
Today we got those papers back, along with midterm and busywork. This paper was worth half the busywork, which was worth the same as the midterm test. The test was worth. Twenty. Whole. Points. I will leave it to y'all to calculate just how many points per word I got for this paper I was up two nights straight getting done.
Now we have been assigned a 'project' to take photos demonstrating the elements of design. Which would be fine and dandy except we have been commanded to use a disposable camera. So not only is it wasteful on that end, it's wasteful on every end because the photos - and the board they're supposed to be mounted on - will ultimately be thrown away because they're going to be crap. Even though everyone in the class owns a camera of some description, we're being ordered to waste money and resources in order to 'level the playing field.' Clearly it's not even judging photo quality anyway!
I have spent the whole semester being commanded to ignore the technology that exists so readily all around me, wasting paper and glue and cameras and hours of my time, and being told that I'm foolish and stubborn to think everything can be done on computer... which it can, with far greater efficiency of time and far less waste ...and now I find I busted my brain on this ridiculous paper and it wasn't even worth 5% of my grade.
Worthless!!

That sucks. Is this an upper level course? Because honestly for the work you're being made to do it sounds like a frickin' gen ed. What sort of degree are you going for? (I'm assuming it's art, but as there are so many forms, and I'm not really familiar with them, I don't know exactly what types of art degrees are out there)

Is this the same class where the professor told you you're not allowed to do computer drawing?

Your biggest challenge in labor will probably be surrendering yourself to the experience and just trusting your body to know what it's doing because that is one time NOBODY is in control. (Relax, you come from a long line of people whose bodies knew exactly what to do when the time came!)

re: water. Not necessarily. You might just think you're tinkling a little. If *anything* starts coming out of your vajayjay at this point call your OB. Especially if it is wrinkly and crying.

I believe we should set up a Rosie's pregnancy help line so that those of us attempting to use books and internet ( which are both supremely unhelpful, vague, and useless) to determine need for assistance have someone useful to talk to

HUGS Rose on behalf of teachers everywhere I'd like to apologize for the obviously poor quality of this one you're currently dealing with

Plus, I'd never get any sleep or any time to drop in here because I'd be chained to the help line. Also, giving out medical advice is bad and could cost me my license.

I could just put up a web page with FAQs, and have each question link to the same answer: "Call your OB/CNM".

But, unfortunately, welcome to college.
Worse yet, welcome to career-after-college.
In my limited experience, I've found that you have to put up with that bullshit in order to get to the good stuff. Fortunately, most of the college bullshit will be a one-time-suffering... career bullshit, on the other hand, comes with the territory.

I'm hesitant to say this, cuz I can only imagine it won't be a popular perspective, but... From my point of view, any hack can use a computer and take advantage of the technologies available. I mean, christ, just look at flickr or DeviantArt or any other corner of the 'Net. The technology does not make you good or even talented; being able to use technology does not make you good or even talented. If you can bring whatever talent you think you have to the front no matter what technology - or lack thereof - is available to you for that medium, then you've grown into an artist. Anything short of that, it's just like everyone else who sketches a stick-figure house and calls themselves an architect.

That's not meant to put you down or tell you how it ought to be done or anything like that. I think you're a very talented woman. I just think that if you can accept the frustration of the stupidity of the bullshit they're asking you to do, your talent will shine through no matter what, and you'll grow as an artist... even if that growth is of the "holy crap, that was fucking stupid, but now I know what I don't ever want to do again" variety. 'cause you're really brave Nico:)

HUGS Rosie.. you're still more comforting than the doctor

and calling your obgyn will get you... "It could be nothing or something" Basically it's like knowing you're going to get a disease and there are 10 symptoms. You might get all, some , or only a few symptoms. When you get the symptoms it might mean you need to go to the ER right way, in a day or two, or in a week. No one can tell you anything ,but you are expected to " just know" when your symptoms are emergency level. If you screw up you and someone else could die or be seriously injured...and all your doctor will say is well It might be, but maybe not" as a guideline. ARGH... where are the researchers when you need them????

Yesterday I watched on of those " baby story" things on TLC and here's a couple with 2 other kids so they've done this twice before and they are sitting on the bed with the book trying to figure out if the wife is in labor...we need a new system

EDIT- and I've killed the thread.... so in non baby related areas
Why is there still a world series and who exactly is watching it? Hasn't everyone given up on baseball???

Fire Drill!!!

Just consider it the dress rehearsal.

Yay for almost newness! (Can we call him "Newness"?)

I'm failing to get through my first cuppa java whilst awaiting the now almost an hour late electrician.

Why, oh why, cannot people who you are trying to hire to do work you do not have skills/time for CALL BACK AND SHOW UP AS ARRANGED?

I actually managed to get one guy out here in the beginning of summer, then he never returned our calls. I just want a functioning front porch light and safely wired outlets. Is that too much to ask? Were it not for the "safely wired" part I could have just done it my damned self by now. I want someone with proper domestic wiring training, not what I can remember from Lighting 101-2 in Stagecraft.

Mingya!

(Phonetic and very rude Sicilian, sorry if anyone's ears are singed.)

Don't even get me started on the driveway thing. NO I do NOT know how to pave. I've dropped run-a-crush down and spread it before, but not making a nice bed for concrete.. and I really don't like the stink of asphalt and am leery of hot gooey things that burn and make me wheeze.

Coffee. Must stop typing and finish coffee. Hour and five late. I'm picking up the phone. This is the second time he's done this this week. He lost his muffler on 81 Wednesday and was about to call when I did. I can't blame him for the car trouble, but he could have called to say he'd be late today... neh?

Cookies in the mailbox at holiday time is my favorite. It takes determination to face those snowbanks and unroll that window in February....

I realized I've been married almost 15 years and I haven't made eggplant parmigiana in that entire time! I kind of changed it a little today. I didn't bread and fry the eggplant, and I added some ricotta and mushrooms to the pan before baking.

(Do not tell my grandmother I used "jar" sauce or I will have to reveal my secret super-uber-hidden ninja mamma skills. It's far far scarier than it sounds..)

(I'm watching you.)

0.-

So why do almost all the shows I Hulu come out on Friday? Nothing all week, then glutting myself on Saturday and Sunday is not good for me. (Don't try to explain about pacing myself throughout the week, it will not happen.)

On the up side we're going to be a Nielsen family for a week soonish. I asked the survey lady if the fact that we didn't actually watch TV would skew her results, she checked with her manager and said it should be fine. MWAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!! I will be watching Dollhouse during sweeps weeks just to fuck with them, and lots and lots of Firefly! We have to keep a written diary, there is no telly box. I could totally make shit up. Or just watch whatever I find on YouTube. Or just not watch anything at all out of spite. Or..

Here, it's not that cold and snowy so...

Eggplant parmigiana? Yum...
As for telling your grandma about the "jar" sauce, I won't. Honest.

SR's GRAND-MA!!! Could you tell me how you make your onolicious eggplant parigiana? SR says it's delicious....

What?! Did you really think I'm going to tell her anything? I mean, seriously, I think she'd kill you if I told her you used store-bought-straight-from-the-can sauce...which is worse than telling her anything about jars.

'Sides...secret super-uber-hidden ninja mamma skills don't scare me...Your grandma's super-sneaky-uber-dead-before-you-know-it assassin guild skills are what scares me...and that's what she'll do if I were to say such blasphemy in front of her...

I don't know why all your shows are on Hulu on Friday. Naruto Shippouden comes out on Thursdays (good subtitled anime is always a good way to learn a new language and have fun), Eastwick comes out Wednesdays (though Hulu's only doing the first 6 eps....now I have to see if ABC will let me watch it), Sanctuary comes out on Saturday (I think), and um...Yeah...I got nothing for you. (Unless there's a way to persuade hulu to stagger your shows through the week...) But cheer up. If the rumor of hulu is true, you might not want to watch stuff on there anymore.

Random question: I'm listening to the ad for Army's Best Ranger Competition...but does anyone read the link "bestranger" as "be stranger" (other than me)?

It's ok Rosie... sometimes I used jarred sauce too ( but don't tell)
Um you can't watch Dollhouse during sweeps. They have pulled the show from the airwaves until November. You can boost Castle's ratings though so that's good: HUGS

HUGS Neko there's no time limit... not like the baby won't be here for a long long ( 18 or more years) while)

No, no. I only watch the shows online at Hulu or Netflix. I do not watch broadcast TV. I am to keep a journal of everything I watch for a week. I can watch as many reruns of whatever I want to! (See? Even if it's not being broadcast I can watch back eps!)

I love caffeine. It makes the 'Verse all bright and shiny and the little voices are back....

So. What did I miss? Were there terrifying space monkeys?

HUGS Anjl:) It's lovely to see you. Castle is awesome isn't it. I am so excited for tomorrow's episode:)
No news here... baby still hasn't dropped all the way and there's no real change. I may actually be the only woman to carry her baby for ever....sigh

....that would be rather awkward.

I started re-re-re(etc)-watching "Buffy" and so now firmly believe you should rename your sweet little boy "Giles".

Or possibly "D'Hoffryn".

No.
Definetly "Giles".

Thank you and NVG in advance for your compliance with my absurd request. ^^

I'm voting for "Spike".

But Giles would be a good runner up.

OOh OOh!! I've got it:

Giles Spike D'Hoffryn Allen. Has a ring to it..

Xander was too prone to getting abducted and eaten, best not to doom the poor peanut.

PS: Jumping off the kitchen table to induce labor only leaves you with very sore feet. (Per my grandmother) Not recommended. Start walking now and keep moving. Do some yoga. Find something to really distract you from your currently large state.
I had a friend who said she wasn't just great with child she was amazing with child. (Fantastic and astounding with child was how I felt... I scared a small child in a mall. No joke.)

There were no space monkeys, but keep up the caffeine and there might be! (unobtrusively shoves monkey delusion under the table with her foot)

If the little voices are telling you something's a good idea, write it down. You never know when you can use it in a murder mystery!

Come on over to the fanfic site and see what the coffee monsters have brought me... Hallowe'en crackfic of the finest kind...

Husband is away. No-one to stage interventions, prevent me from java'ing up and being on the 'Net at unsuitable hours. Bwah!

Basically, a month without anyone to keep me sane has meant a reversion to the semi-feral existence of my single days - it's great for the writing, but absolutely crap for anything involving sensible human interaction.

But 'Castle' has given me a huge fix of Nathan-y goodness. I can feel something brewing in the back of my mind.

Anjl! *fuzzynekopouncelhuggle*
Coffee? I finally have a bottle's worth of cold-brewed coffee sitting in my 'fridge getting cold...maybe I should do some taste-testing of it to see how well it went. (1 cup of ground coffee to 5 1/2 cups of water and let the whole thing brew/sit for most of the weekend...hopefully it won't be like the stuff from Seattle's Best -- that kept me up all night until 9 in the a.m....bad thing to do, but so yum!)

MsA: Um...'twould be bad that you don't get a "safe birth" charm before babyJ comes out....kinda defeats the whole purpose...

I like Giles as part of baby's name...but I think it should be John Malcom Giles Lorne Allen (hey, we need to have him have at least one name from Firefly, Angel, and Buffy...)
'sides, it would be a great for 1. security purposes when he's older and 2. it would be a great way for him to know how angry/busted he is by how many of his names you call out when he's done something.

SR: *hangs head* yes, I am a philistine then...even though I like it when others make the stuff from scratch. (And even if it's your mom's eggplant parmigiata, I'm pretty sure that her assassin skills trumps yours...she'd probably feed me stuff I'm deathly allergic to and disguise it so well I'll eat myself to death. )

*double checks the breakfast bar and adds more mac nuts, lilikoi (passionfruit) jelly, and refills the Passion-Orange-Guava (aka "POG") juice container (mega-size)*
*wonders if a certain misplaced aussie will show up if she sets up a large bowl of Bailey's Ice Cream in stasis for her* *Also places an aussie snare trap to keep said aussie here if she does show up*

*brings a properly polished can-o-dew and eggos with the mac nuts et. al. for the ninjakitty*

I can has Fanfic?! Is that the BSR or somewhere else?! Yippee!!

Neko, my mom would just give you THE LOOK and you would be reduced to a pile of ashes.
I have only managed The Look so far, which merely makes people's heads go 'splodey if I concentrate. It also gets young boys to clean their rooms and stop whatever it is they're doing which they should most definitely not be. (Useful, but not quite there yet.)

I've got a plot bunny and some random bits of dialogue involving the Kensington Rune Stone stashed on the laptop. If I ever get it going I might have to pick the brains of Kelkhil and HK for in-jokes and versimilitude as regards local color from the more middlish Great Lakes region.

But that requires me actually writing. And it's not fanfic.

HK- your house guest started her voyage yesterday. She is stuffed in an envelope marked Do Not Bend.
