You did a fine job, but, you didn't link the new one in the previous thread, I think that's generally a done thing... But I took care of it, cause I'm just a nice guy like that.

I wonder if I ever started a new bar... I can't remember. Been a while since I created any threads at all.

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

Oh Lila, I hope all is well!!

Techniques for massaging your newborn from the parenting ivillage:

1. Begin by making tiny circles on your baby's head. Then smooth your baby's forehead-with both hands at the center, gently press outward as if stroking the pages of a book. Make small circles around your baby's jaw. Massaging around your baby's mouth may comfort him during teething.

2. Warming the oil in your hands, stroke your baby's chest (like an open book again).

3. Roll each arm between your hands, moving towards the heart; open and massage each finger of each hand.

4. Massage the tummy, one hand following the other, from your baby's right side to the left.

5. Roll each leg between your two hands; massage each foot.

6. Stroke your baby's back -- first back and forth across, then in long, sweeping lines from shoulders to feet. Always keep one hand on your baby. End with a kiss to grow on.

I've read this is especially important for babies who haven't been 'massaged' by the birth canal, but it's supposed to be good for all babies ^_^

Yup home and doing much better than in the hospital of doom... Rosie I now firmly believe that labor and delivery nurses should be carefully selected. I had quite a few awesome ones and one that SUCKED>
First night nurse was awful... didn't even tell me my doc had prescribed a sleeping pill if I wanted because I have problems sleeping and he was worried... and she basically brought the baby back to the room every time he blinked so I went 30 hours without a single minute of sleep.

However all the other nurses were amazing and so helpful and supportive no matter how many times I had to buzz them to get him out of his box and put him back and all the other stuff. They were just super ... so I am making them cookies:)

There will be more pics soon, but right now we're still sorting out.
NV has been an absolute super dad. Changed a million diapers, holds him a ton, helps me with everything ( which is a lot considering I just had major surgery and have trouble standing, moving, and just about everything)

Yes, recovering from a cesarean is teh suckage. Keep trying, it will get better slowly.

Cookies...? Would you be my patient?
JK, I can bake my own.

I spent the first couple of weeks just watching boychild sleep when I was not out myself or nursing him. This time is so precious and it goes by so fast. Then they get interactive and it's a whole other kind of precious that goes by too quickly, and come to think of it the last 10 years has basically been a blur and I resent the time I've had to give to school and work and his going to school, but It's part of The Circle Game and you just have to enjoy them for as long as you have them. Less than 10 years to go and he'll be out of the house and in college and I am about to cry.

Tee hee.

Okay, maybe I'll be sick of him by the time he's 30 but I doubt it. I *want* him to become a responsible and mature human being and probably move out and start his own household at some point, although if the house is big enough and jobs are plentiful and he and his spouse can stand us he'd be welcome to stay here as well. Or a place nearby. Big families used to live all together for generations, but they had enough space to get away from each other.

He'll probably have to move far away from here anyway, especially if he really follows through on that astronaut thing..

For now he is 10 and up to my chin and still loves to hug and spend time with me.
I've only got a few more years of that, and I intend to squeeze every cuddle out of it that I can. You just miss having the three year old on your lap reading sometimes. He doesn't FIT on my lap anymore. It just goes by so quickly.

*edit*
I just keep reminding myself of "Jeffty is Five" whenever I get maudlin.

(Drags sorry self into the bar, shambles onto a stool, puts head down and hand out, cupped to receive the next bevvie which is proffered.)

"So there I was, going out to grab a Coke before tonight's meeting, since nobody was there and I hadn't had any caffeine since 7am and it's about 6:30...."

I was patiently waiting well out of the intersection for a chance to make a left (the way you do), when I saw two cars approaching from that direction. One of them had flashing lights and they were both moving pretty quickly. The other car seemed to be pulling over to let the police car pass (the way you do). Only he wasn't pulling over or slowing down. So he passes in front of me (just barely clipping my bumper and doing what feels like pushing me back about 3 feet or so) and up onto the curbHOLYSHIT!!!

I was a speed bump in a high-speed car chase.

Have you ever noticed how time seems to slow down and your thoughts become very clear when this sort of thing happens? I really do hope you never have the opportunity for empirical analysis if you can avoid it.

It went something like this:
"Hmm.. that was an accident. I think the police usually want to speak to you after an accident. Pity I was involved because I'm NEVER going to get that Coke now. I'll just turn off the car and sit patiently here until they want to speak to me. Oh look! They have the passenger side door of the car that hit me open, they're pointing a lot of guns into it and yelling. I think I'll just duck down in case they start shooting. Hm.. that's really not much protection. I think I'll just get out of the car and walk quickly to a safer distance. Oh look, now they have him on the groundDIE YOU FUCKING BALDING BASTARD!! Why won't someone kick him for me? Can I kick him? Please? Yes that is my car. No I do not wish to speak to you, nosy rubbernecking jackasses, I am waiting to speak to the police. Yes, I'm fine. I'm a nurse and I know I shouldn't have moved or gotten out of the car, but I considered it a better option to possibly getting caught in crossfire. No I would not like to go inside your store, I am just going to wait for the police to come ask me questions because I KNOW that's what's coming next. Poor car. Poor, poor car. Well, at least we're all getting new license plates soon 'cause that one's kissed. Yes, yes rubbernecker it's all very exciting, go away."

And so it went until the police asked me if that was my car. A nice young man took my statement, but had the unfortunate luck to be talking to me when I was hungry, tired, thirsty, in serious caffeine deficit, angry, frightened, hyped on adrenaline, and had reached the point where I was about to start giggling hysterically as a coping mechanism. So he's paraphrasing me, got something wrong (a couple somethings, actually), went to correct it, and then I could not stop myself.

He had written "I seen two police cars.."
I had most definitely NOT said that, so I said "I'm sorry, I don't mean to be rude but I think (pointing) that should be saw, not seen". (Poor, poor duckling.. do you think they saw me coming?)

Yes, I grammar policed a cop trying to take a statement about an accident I'd just been in.

Wow.

Just wow.

My English major/teacher friends were impressed when I told them at dinner. "That is awesome." said one.

So this will be our third time talking to the insurance company in about a year, and the body shop gets to meet our other car!

It had been such a nice, uneventful day up until then.

I am very glad to hear that you're safe SR. (Can I get a kick in too for what he did to you? I promise to make it a hard kick and in some very sensitive spots...)

Dunno how the insurance works in your state (where I am, we've got no-fault car insurance -- it's the car that's insured, not the driver...nit picks I know). Hopefully this one won't be causing your rates to rise (you've got proof that you were not at fault) -- though I have a feeling that your insurance rep is going to wonder about your luck lately...

And I disagree...getting out of the car that just became the newest decoration on the curb next to police officers aiming guns at the car that hit you is a perfect reason to get out of the car and outta the way. (No extra preforations in SR!! Especially the kind where metallic projectiles are spewed out of a cylinder fueled by gunpowder!!!)

I'm pretty sure that the police officer who took your statement figured it out that with the excitement, you'd be a little punchy and focused on minor things...

It's a frightening thing isn't it? This last summer I was leaving a parking lot, turning right, when someone trying to turn left turned into oncoming traffic and collided with another car, which was pushed into us. Nothing I could do, except watch and pray that my wife and 1 year old daughter would be okay. We only got scrapes and lost our front license plate holder, if the other cars had been going faster would have been much worse. I feel for you SR, been there.

There must be something in the air. Yesterday one truck tried its best to merge into me, heedless of my horn, another truck going backwards through a parking lot just barely heeded my horn, and a third truck was well on its way to turning left into me, though fortunately she noticed by the time three feet of her vehicle was hanging out in front of me and I had to swerve around her. Fortunately there was no high-speed chase and nothing actually hit me Poor Rosie.

He gets so excitable about the eating that he starts pummeling with his fists which knocks the food out of his mouth then he gets even more agitated. Takes about 3 minutes to start to feed because he's so worked up about it... he's getting better though.Even if you start when he's sleepy the minute he thinks there's food he goes straight to wild child.
