Woman, you are completely off your nut.

I don't think I've ever made a Bar Thread like um, ever before. But the old one seemed long and quiet so on with the new. Eat, drink, post and be merry!

I had a day of work.

It was only one day, but it was work.

The lovely fellow at the agency who tries to find me jobs gave me the wrong address. Twice. So I was 45 minutes late instead of 10 minutes early. (stoopidhead)

There is a similar four digit address with the initial digit being a 6 instead of a 3. It's about a dozen miles in the wrong direction. What fun!

They liked me and will probably be asking for me to fill shifts again. I will go if there is no permanent work to be had otherwise. It was not bad, kind of fun, and a really slow day there so it wasn't like I was getting dumped into the middle of Hell with no map.

It is windy tonight, so I will not be venturing forth.

I'm headed for my jammies, a bowl of soup, and a beverage.

Nico, only the strong survive the sugar rush. They are thinning the herd for overwintering. Sturdy and low-maintenance livestock are kept, those who snarfed six cupcakes then puked and took a nap will be culled.

You've never seen this style of management before?

So Doctroid found a large-ish piece of black molded plastic in the back/seat of the car this morning. It looks like it might go to our car, or possibly not, but how and why it ended up there is as yet undetermined.
Because the shop left it there, and nobody knew nothin' when I rang them up to inquire this morning, I now have to get my sorry kiester dressed and out into the world today instead of watching back eps of Three Sheets and waiting for employment to call me. I've already gotten the extremely polite "fuck off" from one place on the two jobs I applied for there. At least they saved the electrons and did it in one fell email rejection. (You know what, I don't really want to work for the Pope anyway, even if it is one of the bigger baby hospitals here. Sour grapes!)

Dude, that wind is sooo blowing out there.
(sigh) I has to do the groceries anyhoo, might as well get it over with.

"Farewell, dear comfy jammies.. parting is such sweet sorrow, I shall return anon."

(Ditches pajamas under the bar and runs screaming into the cold)

I will not start worrying over the doomsday device until he puts chewing gum, a compressed air cannister, and five of those gooey pyramidal shaped room fresheners on the shopping list.

Then I will have to decide if the world merits my stepping in and averting disaster.

I shall order myself an imaginary redbull, for I's very tired. I was out fairly late last night, then I got home, and couldn't sleep. Had to get back up and head into college at 9am, do some practice exams, then I headed back home early to try and sleep... but it just ain't happening for me. Tired yes, sleep no. Not too bad. At least one of them was downright insulting, but since the whole class has been pretty insulting, I shouldn't be surprised. I'm covering at a family practice clinic for a nurse manager who is going out on maternity leave. I start tomorrow.

Yay paperwork and paychecks! If I really wow 'em I might get hired on permanently somewhere in the rest of the sprawling network of sites.

I will be spending my yuletide working, for the most part. Also, applying for grants, scholarships, and federal aide so I can stop working and focus on classes. Possibly classes at a university. Possibly in engineering. I haven't made up my mind yet. Need to go talk to the folks at CO State, one of the many things I've been procrastinating.

Plans for holidays is that I have nearly two weeks off thanks to factory closing and use it or loose it holiday so relaxing, going to other half's family and do Christmas with niece and nephew (small kids at Christmas rule!).

PR: Just to let you know...most engineering requires lots of math (at least 2+ years of calculus), calculus-level physics, and other assorted "fun" stuff. This isn't to discourage you -- because if you do decide to go into that field, more power to you -- but to give a fair heads up. (Besides, what other major has the students declaring a "physics and geometry study period" -- with everyone then going to play pool?)
...and yes, I'd tell this to any/all of my students I worked/work with.

SR: Yays on the temp job. Fingers crossed that this works out and it's a place you enjoy working at and they decide they want you to stay...

The cajun food sounds yummy -- now if there were only some way to try some w/out bell peppers (I iz allergic to them...yep, I'm one of two people I know who are allergic to them, and one of three that I've heard about.)

FLT: Christmas day, not sure...couple of get-togethers before then, and definitely lots of stuff to do before New Year's (that's the Hawaii/Asian in me...New Year's is important. Lots of cleaning and prepping, and celebrating on the eve and day of...)

I'm well aware that engineering requires calculus and physics. My grandfather was a physicist, inventor, and engineer. To him, math was a language and an art. I've been thinking I'm at a point where I can see it and learn it that way, or I would never consider the field.
I would like a paycheck greater than three digits. That'd make me a happy panda.

hey all,

so far today, lost glove and it's cold, button came of my trousers and horrible lurking cold turned into laryngitis again and that was before I made it to work. Needless to say, work was pants and stressful so major IBS this afternoon and evening.

PR, maths is an absolutely beautiful subject when you begin to see it. I can see in pure mathematics things that make my in awe as much as my favourite music, books and be as a nebulous concept to me at the same time. I have done a little tutoring of people in maths, nothing serious as not qualified but every time the problem has been more about the persons attitude to the subject than the maths itself. I'd say go for it if you feel the passion for it. Also, some stuff is hard and it's ok not to get it the first time. I know it sounds daft but seems to me, and I was guilty of it as a kid despite plenty of other things that I had to really work at, that a lot of people don't get the concept straight away and therefore think it's beyond them.

Anyway, I have fun planet stuff I should be reading...

I've never been anti math. Or logic. They're both obviously important to this world on which we live, which anyone who has a scientist or two in their family is aware of from birth. High school math, taught more as a religion than a science, was not my favorite thing ever, because the mode of teaching was itself a detriment to understanding. My personal enjoyment of math has been growing since I started college. My personal enjoyment of logic remains undiminished, as my recent interactions with management will attest. They don't like to be told when they're acting illogically. I worked that one out myself.

Well don't you also need to figure out which kind of engineer (electrical, mechanical, chemical, computer, etc. ) you'd want to be? My brother loves being a mechanical engineer , but he's a maths genius who loves fiddling, disassembling and improving stuff(always has)

To love someone is to see a miracle invisible to others.

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

That could be fun. I used to disassemble all kinds of things when I was younger, and I always like improving things. I've often pondered ways so make something more usable. Mechanical, you say? I was thinking about computing, but yeah I really don't have that nailed down yet. Don't have a thing nailed down yet, aside from pretending to be a responsible adult. Er, sometimes
