I was always more a fan of just plain chocolate bars than the fancy assorted boxed chocolates. Usually they have too much icky stuff in them. Truffles are good though, my sister brought a bunch back from belgium once and it was the first time I had truffles... almost ruined all other truffles for me, they were very good.

And MSA, when I get myself some kind of money again I'll have to see if I can get you some fudge sent over.

I don't think there are many ways you can go wrong with chocolate. It is the the food of the gods.

Aww Navy you are so sweet. I can ship your Dew syrup soon as I am off maternity leave and can get into Reno to order it...

Chocolate is joy..and these particular chocolates have hosts of Christmas memories attached ( including the less than hilarious my dad splurged on a 5 pound box and wrapped it for under the tree.. Our idiot chocolate lab..hee hee irony... ate the whole box on Christmas eve and we ended up paying over a thousand dollars for emergency stomach pump and evaluation at the only open vets office)

I say yes, they wont know any better, but make sure there are little to no photos of that morning as evidence or they'll hold it against you later in life. My sister still gives my mom a hard time about a christmas morning photo where I have a big workshop playset and little thing that you sit and ride around on and cars and stuff... and she's sitting in a chair with a teddy and a blanket or something.

Very good point. Photographic evidence can really get you in trouble a few years down the road. Children have memories even at an early stage, so a small gift may do wonders. Does not need to cost much, just very brightly colored.

I lean towards Traveller's idea (Hey Traveller! *hugs*) give lil'John one gift (both of you, or "Santa") so that when you take pictures, you'll have at least one with him and a present. (Although why do I get the feeling that Nana and Papa, grandma, and assorted aunties and uncles are going to give presents to him?)

I would say not go all out and splurge on pressies (after all they won't remember it), but give him one or two fairly cheap, fun little pressies! And if he holds it against you, tell him that you were saving the money from what a splurge this year would have cost, and put it towards xmases where he would actually remember the joy of opening pressies ^.^

(or basically, agreeing with everybody up above me lolz)

Peanut M&Ms are sneaky good. If there is a bag next to me, I'll sit there and eat them until they are gone or I am sick. So, I have to make sure that a large bag is not sitting next to me.

I have that same problem solar. It's why I bought the spendy, fancy chocolates I have to savor them

For a while I would drive the fellow I shared a cubicle with, at work, by separating the M&M's by color and eating each color separately. He could not believe I was that anal.

But it was so much fun to see him watch me as I pushed each color in a separate pile.
