Keep the Shiny side up

We're looking at up to 18 inches here in metro D.C. Anyone else on the East Coast looking for bunches of snow? Bet the kids are wishing it'd happened on Sunday/Monday instead of Saturday.

Had nothing but a very cold rain and a few spits of sleet today. Being so close to the coast and east of the I-95 corridor we didn't get the full force of the storm.

Ditto on the cold rain in Tennessee. My sister in Richmond, VA is snowed in, though.

You must be kidding. That was merely the first snow a couple weeks ago here. It's not even touching the roof of that tiny shed. That's just "accumulation".

That's for sure.... Here in Vermont, that's a "heavy dusting"

All kidding aside, that much snow in a place that doesn't have the resources to deal with it is a huge problem. Around here, the crews would have the roads clear in a few hours. Might be days down south.

It snowed a bit when I was out in S.Dakota, back in mid October. 2-3 inches maybe, but it was an early snow for them, regardless. But that didn't keep them from putting the snow plows and salt trucks to use. They kept those streets nearly free of snow and ice. I've never seen so many snow plows, and it wasn't exactly a heavily populated area. THOSE folks know how to deal w/ snow!

In Atlanta, I've seen 6-8 inch snow falls maybe once in my 40+ years here. The latest big one was back in '93. In March.

While this much snow is a rarity in Virginia, it is minor compared to winters I've experienced in Minnesota and New Hampshire.

Don't squat with your spurs on.

Snowline was reversed in New Jersey. My buddy near Princeton got nearly 2 feet. In the NYC Metro area we only got about 6 inches.

18" is a good deal of snow anywhere. We will get that much in one storm every few years here in Milwaukee. But it does accumulate. We may have two or more feet of snow to deal with and then a subzero freeze that makes it rock hard to shovel. Our region has the snow plows to deal with it, but after they pass through your street you have a four foot pile blocking your driveway. Gotta love this season.
