Showing Fan made Vid's and artwork at Conventions

What is the etiquette for showing Fan made Vid's at conventions? Would all the authors need to be contacted for permission? And what about art work shown on computers and monitors?

I would like to show as many people as possible the great Firefly fan vid's and artwork.But now am a bit leery since I have read so much debate on the subject.I would appreciate feed back from the group.
