REENACT12321

I've been reading up on the details of Captain Mal's signature sidearm. According to our firefly wiki, the original was constructed from a .38 caliber Taurus 85. A snub nose revolver. Grip is simple enough to change, I was curious if anyone knew how on earth they loaded it with blank, if they had to take it apart each time of what. As the little magazine Mal is seen inserting into the bottom occasionally obviously would have no ability to load the real revolver hidden inside.

I heard that the construction for the Serenity film pistol was different. If anyone knows the functioning internals of that gun, details would be highly appreciated.

I think I'm in love.... well I already was with that gun. But now I think I'm in need of some new power tools.

I'd always heard it was based off the Lemat Revolver.

it's styling is definitely taken from that and the colts of the era. The sweeping handle on your example fits nicely. However the actual prop is constructed around a modern snubnose revolver. I smell a summer project. Can't buy a revolver 'til I turn 21 in this state though, so that will slow me down 'til at least may.

What about an AirSoft revolver, if such a thing exists? Don't have to be 21 for those, do you?

true, but if I'm going to put in the time, I think making it go BANG might just exceed making it pop a plastic pellet in my book. I'm a WWII reenactor, so I have some skill in weapon restoration/modification and also experience with blanks

No, it's Jayne's sidearm that is based on the LeMat.

Sounds like a good plan, then; I didn't know what your comfort level was when it came to working on "live" guns. :) Sounds like you've got an interesting project ahead - good luck on it, and we'd love to see pix as it progresses!
