Glad the little one is sleeping more and giving you a break MsA and NV.

To carry on from the other thread about trying not to laugh in certain situations, I was at drill today, and we were doing our usual morning roll call (more of a meeting than attendance, but accountability is taken at the same time). During the meeting someone's phone started ringing (there's a 'rule' about that, btw) with this really interesting musical ring tone, and it was LOUD. Everyone started looking around to see where it came from but the culprit just played it cool and let it ring instead of scrambling for the phone.
After about 15 seconds, there were smiles and brief little chucklesnorts going around the room (all the while our squadron commander kept talking).
After 30 seconds, we were trying to hold in the laughs.
Finally the call rolled over to voicemail and it stopped ringing, but just when we were about to turn our attention back to what was being said, the message alert on his phone *pinged* and everyone in the room burst out laughing.
Poor John. When the second alert went off he finally said "That's it" and scrambled for the phone.

One of those situational incidents where you have to be there to it's funny, but it reminded me of the previous thread. ^_^

I started today. I found a recipe that has you marinate the chicken before it turns into wings.

Raw chicken WITH skin is really gross! We usually use skinless chicken. So after getting over that I was cutting off the tips and seperating the drum stick from the wing, and the first few didn't look pretty. Apparently if you cut the bone in the wrong place the chicken starts BLEEDING!
After about 3 or 4 I got the right place to cut it and they look like normal wings now. Hopefully they'll be yummy tomorrow.

They are pretty damn good if I do say so myself. The perfect amount of spiciness to make your lips tingle, but not so hot you cant taste them.

I found this out earlier too. Not the part about bleedy bones thankfully. That sounds pretty bad.

Pet peeve: noisy eaters. My old officemate was a really noisy eater. Slurped his coffee all the time. Drove me nuts.

Big things: smoking around me. You want to kill yourself go nuts. Just don't take me along with you.

Other big things: bad drivers. A dude on a motorcycle decided he could right turn on red at a light when I was playing it safer so he just pulled up next to me and turned into traffic. What if I had decided to turn right then? We'd be in an accident and it would be my word vs his about who was really there first. Oh and my signal was on so he knew what he was doing. Jerk!

I definitely hear ya on the bad drivers bit. Piece of advice, never ever go to Waterbury CT. WORST drivers in the world, oh my god. Turning right on red from the lefthand right turn lane, flying through red lights a full ten or fifteen seconds AFTER the light has turned red, not stopping (or even pausing) for stop signs, no use of turn signals, no knowledge whatsoever of merging or right-of-way procedures...the list continues. it's sad.

My pet peeves: empty toilet paper/paper towel rolls. If you use the last sheet of either, throw the empty roll out and replace it with a full one, that's aaaaaall I ask.
Also, PICK UP YOUR DISHES. My boyfriend has dragged me into the bad habit of leaving my dishes after I'm done with them, and I STILL pick them up more often than he does most of the time.

Big things: rude people. Actually talked about this on a separate thread in talk story, but people who are needlessly and purposely rude to others for no reason (again, Waterbury @_@) really piss me off. I think I just need to get away from the city lol. I'm a town person XD

Oh most babies start with cow's milk at 1 year. Until then they have to have formula or breast milk, but cow's milk is just fine after a year:)

Oh I have a vague idea of how much effort my poor mother had to put into feeding me. Whenever talk at the table turns to babies, it inevitably turns to how collicky (sp?) and miserable I was in the first few months, with an apparently uber-sensitive stomach, lol. though it may have been more the screaming than the feeding that was the issue XD *hugs mother*

So what about the digestive system dictates what can be introduced when? I mean, how do you know? ('you' being moms/doctors/people in general)

Such a smart baby you were Zeek.. you knew even then that formula is less nutritious and tasty

Well you have to start with the foods least common to allergies ( hence you don't start peanut butter until 18 months or later) Rice is a substance almost no one is allergic and in cereal form easiest to consume so it goes first. Then the veg based on it's fiber,starch, and sugar profile ( also taking into account the taste factor)

What if the kid's lactose-intolerant? (my cousin was afraid of that, because she's lactose intolerant, but fortunately her kid isn't) Would you do formula then, or would you do soy at that point? I would guess soy has a low allergy rate....

Makes sense though, starting with the low allergy stuff then testing the 'possible allergens' later on.
