Sorry the job sucks :\

Ah yes, if you hate roundabouts you'd love Jim Shea's (he writes for the Hartford Courant up here in CT) column on "Taking Names," in which he features the guy who invented bottlenecked traffic lanes. his gripes are hilarious.

Let me guess... Carrier Circle?

I hate that one. The speed's too high for the volume it sees and nothing's posted far enough in advance. The roulette wheel of commuting: Round and round and round you go, will they let you over?...nobody knows!

I left work with a migraine today. I was home by 2pm and slept until 5:30. Now I'm just foggy and a little nauseous. I need to be perky for tomorrow's early morning meeting with the potential Doc. It would have been today but they had to reschedule.

We'll see how it goes.

I'm going to go not barf now.

It IS carrier circle and that military circle. I hate it so much. People go so fast on it! I'm all for bending the speed limit, but why would you do it on a circle? Don't these people want to live?

And you're right about the sign thing. The thruway being one of the exits doesn't help. Because then its all "I guess I'm going on a road trip instead of going home.."

Think of it this way.. it totally prepares you to drive in France where there are like a million roundabouts and everyone is driving all kinds of crazy

*salutes* right on it ^_^ she should be okay with being on her tummy now that her stomach seems to be mellowing out; she's already tried rolling herself over a few times, just isn't quite mastering it yet :P

Okay, now for dinner, finally lol.

*ambles in*

geruh,

I need a holiday, or at least a coupld of days at home to catch up with OU work, sleep, blog, IBS is awful at the mo although at least other half is basically back up and running after wisdom teeth.

So far this week I went to Wrexham, worked till half seven then went to hotel, worked next day and got home past seven again, things falling over and haven't left work before six this week and I'm not even rota'd on 24/7 support this week. I know there are worse shifts in the world and I promise not to complain too much but this is doing me no favours health wise.

Ah well, washing up and hopefully I might have time to curl up with new Justina Robson book for a little.

How are we all doing? A day of computer games...I wish!

Oh yeah, discovery of the day, Steve Vai played on a Motorhead album, happy gee!

Bite size bliss.

Well, the potential new place coughed up another two bucks an hour, guaranteed, and I was practically promised it would go up after the initial trial period of 13 weeks.
Plus the semiannual review would be six months after my original start date (Monday)so that's three months after I've gone permanent.
Plus, if it iz teh sukz the agency will cheerfully pull me the hell outta there and we can start over again.
So I decided that it was steady income consistently, I might learn valuable stuff and stretch a little, I wouldn't be in charge, and people sounded like they laughed there enough to make it worth giving it a shot.
I'm still not going to be making what I would have, but it's close enough for now. The agency will even pitch in a buck an hour to see to it that I'm getting what I've been earning at my other jobs with them.
I feel like such a jackass being picky when there's tens and tens of thousands of people out of work, and I know some of them, but I have to look out for my family and my sanity.
I'm not trying to be greedy, I'm not so full of myself that I think I can just make unreasonable demands.. I am worth every penny of what I'm getting and (according to their own HR department earlier this year) a full two dollars an hour more to start. I will not be stuck in the same position I was where I was woefully underpaid and abused. I will perform to expectations and likely exceed them. Finally: every dollar an hour translates to $2,080 a year gross. I walked in expecting $x and they turned around and asked me to do the job for $8,000-12,000 less per year.

Um... let me think... FUCK NO.

I'm looking at a buck an hour less than I'm making now ($2080 less a year) but I'm moving to what might be able to make up for it in terms of environment and enjoyability. It would have been nice to go up 2k-6k like I was expecting at the interview, but there will be time for that.

And if it fails to manifest I will pack up my stethoscope and comfy shoes and walk back out the door.
Dialing the agency on my way through the lobby.

You know, I should probably just cut and paste this to my blog...

So, Barkeep! A round for the house on me because I have a new job on Monday!
(Jumps behind the bar to tend it. Starts pouring)

Why not start your virtual weekend at 7:04 on Friday?!

If you don't look out for your family and sanity, you can't duck behind the couch when they approach and then THEY CAN FIND YOU!

Quiet corners of the basement work well, and crawlspace attics are very effective hiding places.

If anyone gives you a box of ribbon candy or allsorts without warning, you have my permission to become snippy, snarky, and belligerent.
Unless you like allsorts, in which case permission is withdrawn.
I know people who fear nougats in their holiday boxes. I think I'd have to find a seriously elderly beet flavored chocolate before I spat it out.

A drug rep dropped off a box of low-end assorted chocolates. They were in my office for all to share. Someone went through about three, biting into them and then throwing them away while I wasn't in the room. That is not only wasteful, it means three fewer candies for the others. THERE WAS A GUIDE ON THE BOX LID FOR CRYING OUT LOUD, IT WAS NOT A MYSTERY!!!
