Middle Austin to be exact.

Funny side note on that. My Dad called me during work Friday to check if I had power. He said he was just talking on the phone to someone he knows in Dallas who did not have power and was at a Target to stay warm. *blank stare* Uh...Dallas is really far from Austin. If the guy only had to drive to his local Target for power then I'm guessing the black out doesn't stretch quite far enough to reach Austin. Also, what are you going to do to help from across the country if I don't have any power? Also, if I don't have power do you think it's smart for me to waste my cell phone battery keeping you apraised of the situation?

Silly parents.

Move to Austin. Fall isn't cold here and extra hour of sleep. Or just stick with summer and stay sleep neutral with plenty of warm weather.

Cacti aren't plants. They're just illusions from the dehydration of wandering around the desert.

I think Mr. Imrich was last thread. Dr. Ego is pretty bad too. I'm guessing he's not a medical doctor but if he was I think I'd rather find someone else.

Crazy morning. Small private plane crashed into a building like 3 miles or so from where I work. Really weird developing story so far. Some dude's house was set on fire and burned to the ground earlier. He's no where to be found but owns a private plane at the airport where this thing took off. The building that was hit is full of IRS agents.

I hope this isn't some dude who was in financial trouble and went nuts.

Update: Sure enough he was a guy who lost it and went after the IRS. Had a whole big suicide note online (the FBI has already removed it). He was complaining about the corrupt government and how they always shit on the middle class. Uh...yeah...welcome to reality. Trying to kill some lowly IRS agents is not a good solution. Jeez

They say office building and not IRS building. So I suspect it was not purely IRS occupying it. Some people really lose it.

Apparently it's a nice little group of government offices. The news was saying IRS, CIA and FBI. I was a little curious about how FBI agents were on the scene within an hour or when they said the crash happened. Then they were like "right next door is a group of FBI offices".

It's actually weird how many things went well in that situation. There was apparently a fire truck right across the street that got to the scene in about 3 minutes. There was a window washing crew or something in the same complex who ran over with ladders for people to climb out of the building. There was even a retired pilot who has personal airplanes of his own as a bystander who could identify the plane and give details about what he saw.

TAW Scenarios puts on an awesome show complete with role playing, special missions, and even prize giveaways. Their two day scenario costs $70. I spent about that much on food or the room I stayed in. This means in May I cut a third of my cost.

Cost really depends on the production company, type of game, and even time of year. There are several games that happen in your area in the cooler parts of the year. A few of them have been featured in the better known paintball publications.

Personally I am going to offer the money I saved to pay for a few younger players prizes. They work really hard at these games and deserve a little bumper for their dedication to the game.
