Hi there. I have some questions for y'all regarding your own theories on what sort of governmental structure the Alliance has. I personally get the feeling that even though the Alliance may have originated with an alliance between the Anglo and Sino world superpowers, Earth That Was is pretty much defunct as a planet, hence, no more USA or China. That being said, what sort of government does the Alliance have? Autocracy? Bureacratic democracy? Socialism? Capitalism? Is there a President of the Alliance, or is there a dictator? Is there just a ruling council of sorts that heads up the Core Worlds? My own feeling is that there is probably a President of some sort. What do you guys think?

Also, what's up with the ratings system in the Blue Sun Room? There's a G, a PG, a PG-13, and a NC-17 rating available, but no R, curiously. I'm working on a story that I think will probably be R due to war violence between Alliance Marines and Reavers, so should I just label it NC-17 or will an R rating be put in place in Blue Sun for those whose fics aren't quite PG-13 but still don't merit an 'X' rating? Just curious. I wouldn't want to drive anyone away from my story because it is mis-labelled.

Hey desangro, think most of us give the fic a pg13 if there's excessive violence or language. NC17 is generally reserved for explicit smut/slash sex.

hmmm as to your governmental questions, don't think that joss got around to explaining it totally. There's some refs to king of all londinium as well as various lord-ly characters. Combined with the military I'd guestimate that there is oligarchy with a strong dash of extreme bureacracy/socialism in the mix. Seems to be a number of rules prohibiting certain types of free trade so i'd go against much capitalism in the mix (at least for those that aren't the right type.

How the core is run is unclear to me---other than a large amount of big brother.

Well there have been mentions of a "Medical Elect" that could be like the Surgon General in the US, only a group and not one person.

Also Jayne said "Shes in Congress" so even a uneducated man like Jayne knows about a Congress, so I think there is some kind of elected legslatve body.
