But both of you could be accommodated at the same time. So, you're making them wait IMO for no reason.

What if we take the handicapped portion of the equation away? There's a road with 3 lanes. The far left lane is a left turn or go straight lane that gets a green arrow. There's no one at the intersection when you approach. It's midmorning on a Monday. There's very little traffic as everyone else is at work. You're going straight. Don't need to turn or do anything else just go straight for miles and miles. Is it rude to take the left lane just for fun?

Your analogy doesn't work very well. The person going straight never impedes the person turning left. Only the left turn person impedes the straight.

So let me put it in what doesn't sound like great terms. Being handicap doesn't mean you never have to wait. It just means you don't have to wait as much. Accomodations are made so that handicapped people have the same access as anyone else. It doesn't mean they have better access. "Same" access means having to wait sometimes.

We have two bathrooms at work, one with 1 regular stall and a handicapped (out of the way, little use bathroom), the other with 2 regular, 1 handicapped (main bathroom). There are times when there is a line at the main bathroom, even using the three. Why should one stall sit open just because there's a chance that a handicapped person might need to use it at some point? It's illogical and inefficient, if you ask me.

The traffic example is if the light is red. I missed that part. When the little green arrow comes up the person going straight will just sit and wait for it to turn green to go straight.

For the bathroom I'm saying when it's totally empty. No line what so ever. No one in the bathroom. You walk in and have your choice of any stall. Taking the handicap stall is to handicapped people as barricading the door is to everyone else. You're telling me you wouldn't find it rude if you got to the door and it was barricaded by someone who wanted the whole place to themselves?

Is there ever that situation? In CA, there is never a lane with an arrow that isn't a fully designated turn lane...no straight.

Your scenario is the same as if it's just a bathroom without stalls. ;) If the door is locked, I wait. If the door locks and there are multiple stalls and I know it, I pretty sure I don't want to go in there anyway and figure it's a toxic environment. :D Or I would go ask the if maintenance is being done, etc.

The issue is same access for me. I have to wait sometimes (and often time it's a LONG line...that doesn't happen to men nearly as often) so a handicapped person having to wait a minute or two doesn't strike me as rude.

I'm pretty much guessing we're not going to agree. I don't feel bad about it, kind of like you don't feel bad about opening the door for people. You might want to smack me upside the head for the bathroom thing, I might smack you for the other. So we're even.

BTW, you may have ruined the small of the back thing for me. Grrrr.

Yeah. Agree to disagree? I'll go on thinking I'm right. You go on thinking you're wrong. We'll call it even.

Even if he does wash his hands if he doesn't use a paper towel to open the door it's pretty much just as bad as if he didn't wash. Mwuahahahahaha

I've actually wondered why there aren't more handicap door type buttons on bathroom doors. That would eliminate the whole gross door handle thing. Just put a little button down on the floor that you kick (to avoid a door handle type situation with the button) and we're all good.

Unless you're FLT and then you'd be mad at the lazies that used the button instead of the handle. ;)

There are some serious nasties that can be picke up anywhere...so I figure what doesn't kill me makes me stronger. It's actually proven that exposure to bacteria, etc builds a better immune system. Anti-bacterial products are going to e the death of us.

I don't really want to know about the particular nasties...but I don't spend too much time dwelling on them.

omg they have video of the DJ's first date on their site. Now I can say I wouldn't go on one of these dates. No way do I want the added pressure of being on youtube. Jeez.

I would not complain about that hair. She's plenty cute. Those other DJs are jerks telling her she needs a new haircut.

She does say some negative stuff about herself but I wouldn't be kicking her out the door because of it. She just seems a little nervous. It's a first date that's perfectly understandable. Those other DJs need to get off her case IMO.

Ok so on the hot crazy scale we're saying he drifts below the Mendoza line?? ( sorry it's a HIMYM joke so some of you may not get it)

Zeek my response was posited on the whole usual 10-15 minute line waiting to use the ladies room that normally exists( again you men and your double the number of bathroom spots unfairness) so I think most people I know in wheelchairs( and I know a correspondingly large amount being special ed teacher and all) are fine waiting their turn:)

Ok is the dating pool really getting that bad??? I don't really have a base for comparison since I really only dated a lot in college and high school and that's been a while ( and no I'm not discussing how long a while)

Sounds like she's into the last guy she dated. All he did was take her out for drinks but she seemed to enjoy it.

He pulled a brilliant move. Start at a nice sit down bar all low key. Then once you've got her a little buzzed says "come on we're gonna go to this fancy bar and get you a high class cocktail". Then he took her to this place where thy make these really elaborate drinks with like fresh fruit sliced up and put in there and all sorts of junk to make it interesting. She's unlikely to say no to that and then you've got her half way to drunkville.

She sounded like she really thought that was cool. Poor naive girl. He's not buying you that drink because he wants you to feel special. He's going through an elaborate ruse to get your guard down. Well played Mr. Date #3.

I heard a statistic that one in five relationships is (are..?) started on online dating sites nowadays. I don't know if that means the dating pool is getting bad or what, but I think it says something about people's relationship-building skills :\

I never would have gone on a date I knew was going to be youtubed O_o She's brave. And after reading the rest of the DJ convo, I agree. Why the hell are they criticizing her so much? She looks fine. She seemed first-date nervous, which is understandable, but I wouldn't say she blew it.

I'm recovering from Frightened Rabbit. Well, not recovering really, but I did sleep in and go to work late.

Show was excellent. If you like indie/alternatie music, check them out. I learned of them through a six degrees of Firefly thing..."Chuck" has used about 6 of their songs. I heard one, wrote down some lyrics, googled and downloaded it. I haven't stopped since.

Sadly, there was no one at the show. It was pathetic. I think 1/5 of the audience for SK6ers. I was about 5 feet back from the stage and had oodles of room around me. With SK6ers, I was about 20' back from the stage and was pressed up against the people around me. Sigh.

Well that was a fairly crummy weekend. I worked a ton of the time on trying to find a way to get other peoples code to work. Never got it working. Yet the people who wrote the broken code were no where to be found all weekend. Does that seem right to you?

The time I did take off I spent watching the Lost finale. Really showed how other big name writers don't even come close to Joss. That show left so many loose ends it's not even funny. What a waste.

Gack Zeek. That sucks. Did you HAVE to fix the code or were you trying to help the absentee code originators. Either way, it sucks.

I've never watched LOST. Maybe I'm happy that I didn't. ;)

I did watch the Season 3 finale of Dexter. It was pretty good...although let's just admit that there is no way Dexter would continually escape discovery like he seems to. I'll suspend the disbelief though, cause I do like the show.

The disc had the first two episodes of "united States of Tara" on it. That show looks pretty good...but I really don't need to watch anything else. My hulu queue is hard to keep up with as it is. I swear it doesn't seem like I'm watching that much TV, but if I were to list the shows...Oy. I must spend every free minute on the couch.

nah it wasn't my code so I wasn't going to fix it no matter what. My manager just wanted to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that we weren't doing something wrong. So, it was like "reinstall....try this patch...try removing the patch...try this different level...try reinstalling with that level...blah blah".

Looks like they've fixed part of it today already. The other part they're expecting to have fixed tomorrow. Yay.

You know you're bored when you find and read Barney's blog. However, I'm retroactively instituting Barney's rules for parents on MsA and NVG.

and I quote:
If you have friends that have decided to crank out a kid and ruin their lives and those of everyone in their immediate vicinity I encourage you to generate a list of guidelines for them to follow. Here’s a sampling of the eighty-three simple to follow guidelines I presented to Marshall and Lily:

1. You promise to always love me more than the baby.

2. Once a month I get to use the baby to pick up chicks.

3. That may involve the baby falling from a two story window and me heroically catching it.

4. No breastfeeding in front of me.

5. Forget about 4, it’s cool.

10. It’s middle name must be Barney.

14. Lily has to lose the baby weight by bikini season.

17. If I’m hungry you have to feed me first.

25. Never ask me to babysit.

25a. All babysitters you use must be female, hot, and of age.

32. As tempting as it might be, you’re forbidden from using a 19th century president’s last name as the baby’s first name.

34. You cannot use it as an excuse to not do something cool with me.

38. You can only talk about the baby 3% of time.

39. For every picture you show me of the baby I get to show you a picture of me having sex.

42. When it’s of age, I get to have the “sex talk” with it.

45. The baby must wear a suit once a week.

46. The baby must call me dad.

50. I get to take it trick or treating if I want.

50a. While trick or treating, the baby must dress as a lil’ version of what I’m dressed as.

55. It’s first word must be, “Barney.”

59. It has to like me more than Ted.

62. Me, Ted, and Marshall get to re-enact the movie, “Three Men and a Baby” for a weekend.

65. You must introduce me to hot single moms.

66. If it ever has a hot teacher, I get to bring it to parent teacher conferences.

69. Sixty nine. Always funny.

72. I get to bring it to look at colleges.

76. If it throws up on me, you owe me $1,000.

83. … and if all 5 circumstances involving the baby and the strip club should come to pass, I take no responsibility for any of it, because it is your fault for having the baby in the first place.

Just for reposting all that I'll say "Everyone should go watch How I Met Your Mother Monday's on CBS! Check out the rest of Barney's blog at http://www.cbs.com/primetime/how_i_met_your_mother/community/barney_bl
