Anyone have any idea what shepherd Book's denomination might be?

Not too surprisingly they keep this fairly vague so as not to alienate (no pun intended) any particular group ... but I am the curious sort and I have been musing on it some.

Seems like a Christian based religion ... since River went and corrected what I believe was his bible ... He doesn't seem particularly evangelical so that also narrows it down a bit more .... my guess is some form of Presbyterian ... but I am the first to admit that my knowledge of religious as woefully bad.

A better choice -- with less acrimony and more on-topic views -- might be "Firefly and Religion", Part I ( http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=2&t=4556), Part II ( http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=2&t=4557), and Part III ( http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=2&t=4558).

The series was intended to make distinctions between faith and religion, and the loss of faith (or 'apostasy') that we see in the various characters on the series. Part II in particular discusses Book's religion (although no one saw fit to reply in that thread). I'm much better-behaved in that series than in the one you cited.

Still, I did say those things, and I'm not a revisionist...
