i like george better.

he wrote some of the best songs (Something, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Here Comes The Sun), was practically inventor of the modern charity concert and was involved BEFORE it the whole style was hijacked by Geldof, he was a skilled guitarist and singer and, most importantly, he was not lennon or mccartney.

It's a toughie.

In the early life of the Beatles I would probably say John Lennon. He had a sense of humour that I liked most notably when the band introduced itself one time with "I'm Ringo I play the drums, I'm George and I play guitar, I'm Paul and I also play guitar and I'm John and I play the fool." He also did some great solo work and even though I didn't really care for his 'hippy' tendencies he did make some great points about trying to change things for the better.
Ringo always seems to get a lot of stick for reasons I don't know. Okay he couldn't sing very well and did the jokey songs but he was as much a part of the band as the others.
George was always the quiet one who did write some great songs and could sing as well (Here Comes The Sun is one of my fave tracks ever) but he never really left a great impression beyond that.

So that leaves Paul who I have always had a lot of respect for even during his troubled times when he was being hounded by a one-legged, treasure hunting pirate. He never really bowed to media pressure or used his fame to get his way.
In his Beatles years he was part of the great song-riting team with Lennon and was co-responsible for some of the best pop songs ever written. And if I think about the Beatles songs I really like, most of them are sung by Paul. So I would say he's my fave of the four. Plus he wrote the truly excellent Mull Of Kintyre with Wings.

... fully loaded, safety off...

John > was the coolest
George > was the most spiritual
Paul > was the musical genius
Ringo > was the luckiest

I liked them all, they each brought something different, a seemingly great balance of personalities and talents.

"Here comes the sun" is my favorite Beatles song.

Too bad they couldn't have stuck together for one more album(maybe a mid 70's piece) it probably would have solidified Harrison's genius into an already phenomenal McCartney/Lennon songbook.

As much as I liked Lennon, he was also the catalyst for the bands demise.

I never got much into Wings until I bought the 2-disc greatest hits released a few years ago. Pretty amazing stuff. I now want to buy all the studio albums(CD's).

Such a hard choice! I'm just going to go with them all! (though I think I have a little bit of a preference for John.)
