Continuing the discussion of friends and favors.

I feel like a dick for not helping by bestest friend move a few years back. I just really hate moving people because of helping a single individual move no less than seven times (that I can think of). Sucks, but one person can ruin it for everyone.

I agree helping a person move like once in 5 years is fine. However, if they keep moving that just gets obnoxious.

I don't mind helping people move. But there are times I wish I were elsewhere. One guy hadn't even started packing yet. We did not finish that day and I did not return the next day.

Don't mind helping someone move, but I really really hate helping someone clean, especially if it's a major yuck fest. Once helped a friend clean his grandmothers house and it hadn't been really cleaned in years....eeeeew

Helloooo!
I haven't posted here in a long while, how is everyone?

On moving...I'm not exactly the greatest friend, but if someone really needs help and they ask me, I'll usually help them out. However, if it's something that they can very easily do themselves, I'll probably tell them to deal with it.

Maybe because it was just the one time and she was my bestest friend, but I had no problem helping her move. It got a little stressful sometimes but for the most part it was alright.

Cleaning, same thing. If its the bff, we'll have fun no matter what. We even joke that we could be put in some turkish prision cell and we'd still have a good time.

Heh, Nooo I'm not. But I'm a weirdo about my "helping a friend" For example, I'd rather help someone move than give rides. I HATE giving people rides. If I don't have to do the driving around, I'll help you do whatever you want!

ponder: why are babies so gross?

A friend just had a kid and blogged about the funtastic delivery room experience. He said when they weighed the kids he peed all over the scale. Which made me wonder if a kid pees while he's still in the womb. Sure enough they do. They swim around in their own pee and drink their own pee in there. GROSS! So, when you hold that baby for the first time you're really holding a kid that has been marinated in pee for months.

Dear nature,

You're broken. Fix it!

Sincerely, Zeek

Would it make you feel better to know they don't pee or poop til they are born. Also as a side note urine is sterile. Plus if you'd held it 9 months you'd pee on the scale too.

The general tone on these boards is very good IMO. It's the reason the boards still survive this long after the series. This thread is sort of just a long running discussion. Though the general point is to discuss the things you're pondering. I think it started out with things you ponder about relationships or how the opposite sex thinks. We covered all that and are experts now So, we've moved on to just general questions.

Ponder: If we're all wiped out in the next 6 months are you content with the life you lived?

I just read some article that the gulf oil spill has some signs of catastrophic life ending events. They are worried about the methane that is leaking out. Apparently scientists believe that twice in the past there have been massive methane explosions after under water fissures opened up. Both times they killed the large majority of life on Earth. They say if it's going to happen then it will likely occur in the next 6 months.

So, on that happy note do you go to the grave content with the way you lead your life or upset about something you did/didn't do?

For me I think I'd mostly be content. Sure I'd live out my last days differently if I knew the end was coming, but based on the incomplete information that I have I think I live the way I'd like to.

I'd be very disappointed that the opportunity to kick the fear mongering "scientists" and media pussies feeding us all this end of the world crap swiftly in the reproductive organs. Between them and country music artists bombarding the airwaves with overly sentimental rubbish I find it harder to enjoy two things I love a ton: nature and music. I love to listen to so many music genres that I feel ripped off for not being able to listen to country music on free radio of all things. Think I'm just tired and cranky. Sorry about the ranting and all.
To me not knowing is the way to be. No point in toiling over the thought of your loved ones suffering through the end of days. My Bud and I were discussing the use of nuclear weapons against major cities in the book Day By Day Armageddon after the world fell apart from a zombie plague. I honestly felt relief for remaining survivors surrounded by a sea of the undead, vaporized rather than suffering through the agony of exposure, hunger, and thirst. In the event that any one of the end of all things theories should happen I do hope it is a swift event that the Earth never really notices and simply rebuilds itself as it has many times in the past. Man believes cataclysmic events are the end of all things. The Earth will endure where man does not.

And now we return to the Happy Fluffy Bunny Hour...

After doing more research I think the author of that article was more or less full of it. If that helps at all.

Still think it makes for a good ponder though. The whole live every day like it was your last concept. Which is obvious BS too because if everyone did that no one would ever go to work

Maybe "live every weekend like it was your last" would be better.

Just discovered my surge protector works. Did not loose power, but something got hit.

Edit: 15 minutes after the surge we were hit by lighting again and lost all power the rest of the night. I am just coming back on line at 5:50 Milwaukee time. Spent first few minutes reseting all the clocks. We still don,t have all the TV stations up and running here. A lot of rain with lighting. Makes for fun times if your on the road. Luckly I was home and not out there on the road. Heard a lot of sirens and glad the weren't for me.

Needless to say got to bed early for a Thursday night.

Edit2: This is only a few blocks from my home.
