Their character or the actress herself?

character has got to be supergirl

actress is a much tougher question I'd have to think about that one

Kristen Johnston as Sally Solomon.

She even scared the High Commader.
It was hard finding a good picture of her.

I guess Michelle Rodriguez would probably come under that category too. She always seems to play pretty tough chicks in her movies.

I don't mind helping people move. As for myself, I only ask for help with the things I can't do myself (couches, mattresses, boxed bicycles on motorbikes). And I certainly won't clean.

Female action stars? Who was Trinity in the Matrix? I liked her, but I can't for the life of me remember the actress.

I'm usually not too upset by power outages actually, as long as I have nothing important to do. I'll just sleep, or read by flashlight.

Really? My problem with her is the exact opposite. She's got one facial expression, one tone of voice, one role. I just don't see that as a valid skill set for an actress.

The real problem is that so many actresses get away with that. It's almost like the movie business is saying "if you're pretty you don't need actual talent."
It pisses me off.

It was estimated to be delivered on August 4th but UPS has already made it halfway here from GA by noon today and it was already departed from there. Their ground shipping is going crazy fast. Everyone's real excited about Starcraft 2...but I could never get into that kind of strategy game. I did play Warcraft 3 years ago though.

So, are you guys all BSG fans? Given the total void in TV right now I've finally started running through the last couple seasons of BSG. I'm on the last hour of the finale tonight. Then I can finally take part in BSG discussions. I'm kinda worried. I heard plenty of people did not like the Finale. There's only an hour left and I see no reason to complain so far. Though I also don't know what they could possibly fill another hour with.

If things go terribly wrong in a matter of an hour that will kinda suck. Oh well I guess I'll find out tonight.

Hehe well things did change rapidly in that last hour. Can't say I really like the twist, but I didn't hate it. It was a good ending that left things in a place where it felt all wrapped up. Except for one mystery that was a little confusing to me. I'll have to go look around the intertubes to see what others thought of it.

Personally I thought it really slowed down in the middle. They seemed like they didn't really have anywhere to go with the story. The final season they took the gloves off and let loose. I think it was all worth the build up personally. I can't really think of any filler episodes in the last season. Though I was glad I was watching it after the fact. There were a lot of "to be continued" endings that would have really been painful if I couldn't just load up the next episode right away.

I just finished all 10 seasons of Stargate SG1 except for the movies the cap it off. Fancast and Hulu carry most of the episodes, but not the films. I started watching Stargate: Universe, but is not like the original series. It is a dark show in both characters and lighting. Not the big happy family that was on SG1.

I am also watching Star Trek: Enterprise. Have not watched it since it originally aired and it is good to see again.

I started rewatching it a while back and it's still not one of my favorites. I never did see the final season. So, I wanted to at least see that. I got through part of it and then for some reason my DVR missed a few episodes. Waiting for them to come back around.

Edit - Enterprise that is.

I just started watching SG-1 recently; I'm only on season 2 though. The characters in that are great, although the writing sometimes is not. I'm afraid that once school starts I'll have no time to watch it though...

Hiya all! it's been quiet in here. :D

I dont' really have much to add, I suppose. I don't have a favorite bad ass femal action hero. Lelu and Ultraviolet came to mind, but I really don't like Mila Jovovich that much.

I don't know if I could watch BSG. I might give it a try. It's a much loved show from my youth and I think I want to leave it that way. :D

I will say that I recently watched Wonderfalls...and have purchased the DVDs and re-watched and re-watched and re-watched and told many friends about it. I'm sad that there is no more to watch. I need more quirky disaffected youth fun. Sigh.

Yay! I'm glad you discovered it. I thought it was a good little show. I can honestly say I never heard a peep about it while it was on the air though. It's premise is way out there. So, I think that held it back considerably. I don't know where they came up with that one.

I'm from a Sicilian background....favours in our culture have a "special" connotation (have you watched the Godfather or Sopranos?) My Parents migrated to Australia from Sicily in the 60's. I was taught as a very young child NEVER to accept any favours offered by certain people my Dad had grown up with. He always said "be polite and curteous to these people when we see them, but do not get involved with them" and then he'd mutter angrily about moving to this country to be free of the ignorance cycle etc etc. having said that I don't mind helping people out if they need it, I'm less open to getting help or asking for it...but am learning that sometimes meaningful friendships require you to accept favours every now and again...as long as it's an equitably reciprocal deal.
as for the moving dilema, friends have offered to help a couple of times (I don't drive). I always made sure I had a feast ready for them to say thanks, or I made them stuff or helped them move/clean etc etc.

OH my god No! telling a Sicilian to shove it!!!! your whole family loses face...ugh! big big mess for everyone...actually only for my Dad as the rest of us could care less what the Sicilian community thinks of us...they already think I'm a freak for going back to university in my 40's for a second round, being unmarried, not having kids. They disapproved when I left home at 19/20. As for the favour cycle...it doesn't work that way...they do you one favour you're indebted to them for the rest of your life...very unbalanced.
As Rug Bug suggests just don't ever go there.
yeah I'm not keen to ask...i just bank on the fact that if you have good friends and you need help they'll give it before you ask or else you muddle through on your own. I always offer before I'm asked
