Continuing off topic discussion as we have for four years or so.

Extortion via unsolicited favor is one of the oldest skills known to man. I'd continue but chasing the baby around the kitchen.

Is the baby walking already? Or just crawling. How fast can kids crawl? Shouldn't require much chasing.

they're not quick but they are uber wiley little critters with super sharp primal senses, and you've also got to make sure the baby chase doesn't end up with falls and bumps if you do corner them...plus mobile babies are ultra squirmy so when you catch em you don't always get a good hold on em.

So, Kaylee the kitty's blood work is slowly on the decline. Not a good sign. She still acts fine though. So, I'm not too upset about it at this point. I think the vet is actually over reacting to some extent. They asked if she's eating and drinking. I was like wellllll... I mean they bumped up her fluid injections to 150ml the last time and since then she doesn't really drink anything. Pretty sure she's just not thirst will all that fluid absorbing into her system each day. So, now they want me to monitor her eating habits and junk.

I'm not really concerned. There's no more treatment options really. If she stops eating then she stops eating. I'm not going to try to force her to hold on if she's ready to give up. So, pssh on that idea.

On a brighter note the receptionist hottie who used to work there returned. Apparently she moved to Colorado for a little over a year but decided to move back and she got a job with them again. Welcome back hottie with the bright blue eyes!

Super late to the discussion, but when I read the other thread about the baby peeing on on the scale, I had an mental image of a newborn trying to make weight for wrestling and they were jut ridding themselves of water weight. :)

Touching back on the "do you wanna be famous" discussion, I wouldn't want to, unless it was for my brain. Like I wrote a great book and developed a new theory or implemented a new program... Or if I change the world, which I try to.

Oh HUGS on Kaylee Zeek. Hopefully she'll improve..try feeding her baby food meats if she decides she doesn't want to eat. Easier on her tummy and teeth:)

To answer teh crawling/walkin..he can do both and he can crawl about as fast as I can speed walk which is 4 miles per hour. He's really fun to chase though 'cause he giggles and such, but the main problem is what he's crawling towards. You can look down for 30 seconds and look up and he's sticking his hands in the fan, or chewing a lamp cord, or swallowing whatever twigs and sticks the dogs dragged in...

I really hate the subtle blackmail.... you know when someone does you a favor and then turns around and asks for one expectantly like now you owe them.

This. I like to think that I'm pretty good about avoiding this myself, I don't really ever expect stuff from others. However, when people do try to do something nice for me it always makes me feel kinda guilty...

Well she's got bad kidneys. So, there really isn't any getting better in the cards unfortunately. I think it's a double whammy though when I think about getting another cat when she finally passes. 1.) she's the sweetest most personable cat I've ever known. She always wants to be around me and is basically the perfect cat personality for me. 2.) the kidney thing makes me worry about future pets with health issues. It's not exactly cheap. I have to stay pretty much on a schedule to get her pills and fluids twice a day. I'm ok with it cause she's a great kitty, but it sure ain't easy.

So, I basically think about how another pet after her could never live up to her legacy and at the same time could have all the downside. Ugh.

Well I measured her food and she ate about 2 and a half cups in a week. According to the bag a 12 lb. kitty should eat 3 and a half cups in a week. She's actually 11 lbs. So, all in all I'm going to say it's fine. She might be eating a little less than the norm but I'm not going to freak out about it.

Ponder what thing do you regularly do without that makes you really happy ?

For me right now it's sleep. Got 7 whole hours last night for the first time in like 8 months. I am practically drunk with happy non-exhaustion

Kaylee is doing fine. I changed up our routine a little bit. Regularly in the morning I head straight for a shower when I wake up. I let Kaylee in the bathroom for a little while and pet her. Then I let her sit outside and wail (I let her in one time and she wailed too...at least outside it's muffled). Anyway usually once I get out of the shower she's just trying to lure me over to her food so I can pet her while she eats. I think she literally might spend the whole night sleeping on my feet. So, now before I head to the bathroom I'm grabbing a little handfull of her food and putting that on the floor while I pet her before my shower. She gets her morning pets and breakfast. Win win

As for the ponder it's simple: women

Aww see this is when you could give her some nice mushed up chicken livers ( buy them raw at the meat counter. Put in pan of water simmer for about 10 minutes then mash up with fresh catnip) trust me she'll love it, put a bit of weitgh back on and her kidneys might even do better:)

Again I think you may just be oblivious to the hordes of women vying for your attenion. Do you notice any unusual lines near your workspace? Maybe groups of dejected looking women?

Glad kitty seems to be doing well, Zeek.

As for the ponder, playing my guitar (as horrible and limited as I am) makes me happy no matter how down in the dumps I'm feeling, but I don't get a lot of time to play regularly during the school year :( Also, reading books I can genuinely enjoy. My recreational reading time plummets to zero during the semester.

What in particular are you pondering Zeek? After spending a ton of time pondering here over the last few years all I can tell you is I don't know jack. What I did learn is that the women I had anything to do with were bat shit crazy and needed to be avoided at all costs. Luckily I got paired up with a reasonably sane, highly intelligent, and crazily attractive woman from this very board because of it. Perhaps someone here can lead the way for you too.

random ponder: I just saw a little blip on IMDB for a movie called Black Swan coming out in December, and because the picture looked kinda bizarre, and discovered it's a movie about a ballerina. However, Summer isn't in the lead role of--the ballerina. Shouldn't she be? I have nothing against Natalie Portman, but I honestly wonder if they asked Summer to do it, and if she turned it down, why?

Natalie Portman is a much bigger star than Summer. Name recognition goes a long way in Hollywood. My guess is Natalie Portman got asked way before Summer and when they signed her that was that.

It seems to take a lot of luck to become a big name though. You either have to co-star with some big name people in a popular movie or get really lucky.

Or have a parent or relative already in the industry, it seems. Kinda sucks though, I mean, sometimes directors prefer unknowns or small names to big stars (not that Summer is unknown), and the movies end up doing well anyway because it's a good story with good actors. I dunno :\

I have a feeling she'll be caught; even if someone who knows her refuses to turn her in (which would be stupid, IMO), someone will probably recognize her sooner or later and say "hey, isn't that the lady on the internet vid who dumped a cat in a trash can?" hope she's found soon.

Not to diverge from the cat subject, but I have a school-related question for you college goers out there, and even those of you who are no longer in school. Given the ridiculous prices some school co-ops ask for textbooks, have any of you ever rented a textbook from an online distributor? If not, does it sound like a plausible idea, or a bad one? My university is asking over $100 for one of my textbooks (which is about typical, but makes my bank account scream) but I can rent it from an online "library" (for lack of a better term) for $40, with a due date after the semester ends. Good? Bad? Thoughts?

Never heard of renting books before. Seems like it would be fine. Text books were always pretty ridiculous. I wonder when the college system will lose its strangle hold on people wallets. I mean it's obvious that they can do things cheaper, but for now they have the prestige and the connections in the job market.

Eventually I think they'll run into the same penny pinching of any other industry. Seems like the price gouging can't last forever can it?

Ponder Answer: It would take a lot. I don't know what it is about my personality but I don't like to give up on things. I like to work through the issues and hope that something better is around the corner. In college I never dropped a course. I've never really quit a job. I mean I went to college and had to stop my high school jobs, but I don't really consider that quitting as much as moving. It's just not in my nature to give up.
