I agree here... It's the only promo I've seen in a while that's looked good enough, and I'm not that picky- which says alot.

Speaking of trains, I watched North West Frontier(1959) the other day, and I thought it was great! Had an ironic true to life ending...

He commanded the District of Columbia National Guard from 2003 to 2008, the unit said in a statement.

The operator of the train, Jeanice McMillan, 42, of Springfield, Virginia, was also killed, according to Angela Gates, a spokeswoman for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.

Hey, just got home from seeing this, I gotta say I thought it was GREAT! They did a good job with the little time they had for character development, did fairly well on keeping it moving and we thought it was realistic feeling. The last 15 minutes had some nice funny bits. It was a great action packed flick and an excellent feel-good ending. Well worth my bucks!

Agreed, Book of Eli was a rare fail, but not because of Denzel (or my girl Mila Kunis, who is a stone cold fox. Who knew!). The Hughes brothers dropped the ball on this one. The film, as a story, went nowhere, except of course, that a blind man can see how valuable the Bible is(but we already knew that, didn't we).

BoE had great potential and Denzel delivered despite the script. Mila was solid throughout and Gary Oldman was over the top, but in a good way (didn't seem to fit the movie though).

BTW have you noticed the rather carefully crafted career path Mila has been taking since she left That 70s Show. She has opted for small character-driven parts - from her voice work in Family Guy (daughter Meg), to small parts in After Sex, Tony and Tina's Wedding, Forgetting Sarah Marshall (loved her!), Extract (she was really good in that).

She then lands a dream role opposite Denzel Washington in Book of Eli; and follows it up with another solid role in a Darren Aronofsky film Black Swan - opposite Natalie Portman (not long ago I saw a similar story in a japanimation film on Netflix, sorry can't remember the name - but it will come to me). Whoever is making the decisions on which roles to choose - her or her manager - it is a brilliant way to develop one's craft. Well played Mila, well played.

when i first saw the trailer for this i thought it sounded familiar...

Turns out the nugget of truth @ the center of this story the "Inspired by true events" part, came to a close about 30-45 minutes from me, and i remember this being the big news story of that day
From the Wikipedia page on the movie:
"Inspiration

Unstoppable is inspired by the "Crazy Eights" unmanned train incident in 2001. The train, led by CSX Transportation SD40-2 #8888, left its Walbridge, Ohio, rail yard and began a 66-mile (106 km) journey through northwest Ohio with no one at the controls, after the engineer got out of the originally slow-moving train to correctly line a switch, mistakenly believing he had properly set the train's dynamic braking system, just as his counterpart in the movie did.

Two of the train's tank cars also contained thousands of gallons of molten phenol, a toxic ingredient of paints and dyes harmful when it is inhaled, ingested, or comes into contact with the skin. Attempts to derail it using a portable derailer failed, and police were unable to shoot out the fuel release valve, instead hitting the fuel cap. For two hours, the train traveled along at speeds up to 47 miles per hour (76 km/h) until the crew of a second train coupled onto the runaway and slowly applied its brakes. Once the runaway was slowed down to a speed of 11 miles per hour, a CSX employee, trainmaster Jon Hosfeld, ran alongside the train and climbed aboard, shutting down the locomotive. The train was stopped just southeast of Kenton, Ohio.[18]

When the film was released, the Toledo Blade compared the events of the film to the real-life incident. "It's predictably exaggerated and dramatized to make it more entertaining," wrote David Patch, "but close enough to the real thing to support the 'Inspired by True Events' announcement that flashes across the screen at its start." He notes that the dead man switch would probably have worked in real life despite the unconnected brake hoses, unless the locomotive brakes were already applied. The film exaggerates the possible damage the phenol could have caused in a fire, and he found it incredible that the fictional AWVR freely disseminated information such as employees' names and images and the cause of the runaway to the media. In the real instance, he writes, the cause of the runaway was not disclosed until months later when the National Transportation Safety Board released its report, and CSX never made public the name of the engineer whose error let the train slip, nor what disciplinary action it took."
