Well, having been Firfely free for a month or two, watched a few episodes last night (box set lent out, no spare. Live and learn) - meant to start with Serenity but what can I say, I was weak - straight to Objects in Space, quick stop at the last few scenes of The Message and then Out of Gas.

Things I noticed that I didn't before:

- Washing giving blood in Out of Gas. Somehow missed this the first few times, and yet it says everything a huge long scene could about Mal and Wash's relationship.

- Inara. I'm leaning towards a theory that in fact the syringe is an anti-age thing. Her reference to the fact that she likes things with "mileage on them" follows the comment that she "doesn't want to die at all".

The acting - cannot be repeated often enough. Nathan's eyes in The Message when he delivers the line, "I was just carrying the bullet for a little while", Jewel in her scenes with Early, everything Summer does in OiS - the way she delivers "I'll be your bounty Jubal Early". Sean in the dinner table scene in OiS.

The music - consistently great.

Hard as it is, I'm recommending to everyone to cold turkey FF for a fortnight or more - watching the episodes again as "fresh" is a revelation.

Now to watch the other episodes.

I got my 1st DVD set back in early January...Jan 5th, I believe. A last X-Mas present to me self. At first I could NOT stop watching. After a while, I figured I needed a back up box set, just in case. So, while the older one is loaned out, I eagerly awaited the new one to arrive. Sure enough, I started watching all over again.... It's been almost a month since I've seen any Firefly. I think it's high time I start all over again this weekend. Great idea.

I got my box set as soon as it came out. The people at Suncoast made a mistake on my preorder and only charged 19.99. Watched in order repeatedly. Then after some time I began to watch other things. Recently bought another box set for a friend. Most recently ben going between Firefly and Buffy season 6. Mostly once more with feeling. That is awsome entertainment.

There are certain things you watch, think are great, but never watch again; other things you think are great, but when you rewatch, you can't see what you saw all along.

Having had a significant gap, I'm happy enough that my initial judgment was right - this was a creator, a group of writers, a crew and a group of actors all at the top of their game. Could they have stayed there for 5 years? Who knows, but it would have been fun finding out.

Mmmh... I personally haven't watched Firefly since they finished airing it here (around mid-June). I'm getting the DVD box for my birthday (which is 20th of August... Oh my God I just started feeling embarassed of my birthdate since it reminds me of 20th Century Fox...) and looking forward to it very much.
