I'll start.....I like to smoke pot when I watch science fiction movies and tv. It helps me enjoy the material a lot more. I'm not a pot-head per se, but I do enjoy it recreationally. How about you? Do you get high when watching Firefly?

Oh wait. I took the question at face value. I got a natural high off the show, so yes.

I've never had more than a sip of BEER in my entire life. Side note: I didn't like it. Might have had something to do with being five years old, though.

Unless you consider caffeine a drug, because then I drink about 32 oz of diet soda a day. So I'm probably going to get cancer or something, but I'd rather not drink the sugar either. I'm already nuts as it is, too much sugar makes me blue shift.

I like poppy seed muffins? I guess those are technically morphine/opium or something. Though I've been going more for the chocolate when I'm at work.

There's something the Mormons use around here called spice. Apparently it's legal.

I dunno, I've just never had the inclination. I have enough scary hallucinations as it is. A drug trip would just inevitably go bad on me.

Does it turn their eyes blue?

It may be a regional thing, too, as I live in a heavily Mormon area, and have never heard of it, nor can I find it online - though that may be because the inventor of Old Spice is Mormon, and those two keywords bring up every story about it.

Dune reference for the win!

But no. I guess maybe it's a Utah thing, but it's a drug mormon's use. You're right that there's not a lot of information about it on the internet.

They're thinking of passing legislation against it in the state legislature though.

Tried the evil weed in college- it ruined a viewing of Pee-Wee's Big Adventure (made it seem like a horror movie to me), so, no, I don't use it. A couple beers & a pizza go well with Firefly, though.

I think you may mean that it's a drug SOME mormons use, but the article doesn't even mention mormons.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!

A couple of times in college before my bad Pee-Wee experience, I admit to toking very lightly & subsequently consuming 2 full boxes of Kraft Mac&cheese at a time. That's like, a totally to-the-brim BIG pot (heh heh, he said 'pot') of the stuff.

Maybe. I don't know much about it, actually, it's just I usually hear the term in conjunction with the word Mormon, like sometimes I've heard it referred to as "Mormon spice" or "Mormon's spice."

It's possible that's because this is a Utah thing, and the assumption is that everyone who lives in Utah is Mormon. The thing is, even around here they call it "Mormon Spice."

Really...? I'm not six hours from Utah and while I've heard of Spice (the incense that people are smoking, no the worm remains that help you fold space) I've never heard it called 'Mormon' Spice. Don't you have to smoke spice?

I think so. It says they sell it in smoke shops.

You've heard of it? Neat. It's always nice to know my brain isn't making stuff up. I can never be sure.

As for Mormon spice, I don't know. Usually it's in the capacity of someone talking about spice, and their partner giving them a weird look, and then the first going "I'm talking about MORMON spice, duh."

Loved the Dune ref, Story - but the "Spice" stuff is around Austin, too. And Salvia, too, it seems. Both legal and sold at local head shops, at least for now.

I've smoked pot, but didn't really care much for the high. Haven't been anywhere near it in probably 20 years or more, but I still know people who smoke it.

I view it as pretty much like alcohol - do it on your own time, don't drive, and don't let it be a "lifestyle" (where your every move is based around it, like alcoholism can get), and I have no problem with it at all. It's just not my drug of choice.

Oh, I'm quite familliar with Salvia. Maybe I know "Spice" under a different name, or maybe it's not legal in New Mexico, I don't know. But I've certainly never known any Mormons to talk about smoking it, or anything else.

Local business says they carry "5Spice".

They also carry a smokable called "Serenity Now".

Saw a news report on "Spice" and people were saying they were tripping balls on the stuff. Didn't sound like fun to me.

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

It's been a long time, but back in the day I did smoke a lot of pot, and nearly everyone I knew at the time did too. I did enjoy at lot of weird movies and TV shows while high, but some of them I've tried to watch straight and it's just not the same. So either my sensibilities to humor and far-out stuff has changed, or the pot warped my perception. Duh, ya think?

sounds like the same stuff that's been causing a ruckus here in Ohio. Here they call it K2.
essentially an herbal blend, treated with Synthetic cannibanoids, to be sold "for use as an incense only"
mostly at the stores where they sell all those funky pipes for "Tobacco use only". (main local purveyor is called the "420 Clinic" they Drive a Metallic green van, dress in scrubs and lab coats[Ohio does not have medical pot laws BTW])

and as for me ever using the stuff? no.
I'm already naturally forgetful, paranoid, and have a perpetual case of the munchies.
all WITHOUT pot. hate to see what would happen to me on it....

Not really, you just have to get it with a thicker crust - the trick is to grab the back of a slice from the back at the corners with your thumb and middle finger, while propping your index finger underneath, and a quick, firm squeeze will fold the sides up handily much like a taco.

As for "Spice", every time y'all say that I get this mental image of really polite Fremen and start giggling.

I've never been fond of cannabis myself, but one of the cats, Kallista, goes absolutely bonkers for the stuff, to the point where my former township offered her employment as a drug detector (I declined, both me and the kitty being firmly in the legalization camp) and if you're holding, she WILL know, lol.
