I have been curious about the 5 star rated items on Amazon with the most reviews.

I have been trying to search for one that would top Firefly's current 5 star rating with 1055 reviews.

The only thing I have found that comes close is:

A Game of Thrones http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0553103547/qid=109068918
1/sr=8-3/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i3_xgl14/103-7571431-3407830?v=glance&s=books&n=507846

... but it sits at 4.5 stars with 1076 reviews.

(I wish there was an easier way to search for such statistics. I think, though, I am going about it the wrong way.)

Well, there is some comfort in all of this: the best SciFi show and the the first book from the best Fantasy epic ever share similiar ratings from about the same about of reviewers. When you are good, you are good.

Yeah, I don't even like epic fantasy overmuch, and the Song of Ice and Fire books just... gripped me. Brilliant, merciless writing. I suspect Martin trained as a historian... he certainly thinks like one.

Unfortunately, I have no idea how to search up statistics on Amazon.com. Derf.

I wrote an e-mail to Amazon and asked them if they had a way to search for items by number of reviews. They actually wrote back, but said that they didn't. That's too bad, I haven't seen any other items with as many reviews as Firefly.

Yeah, I'd love to search by average # of stars *AND* specify a minimum number of reviews.
