Hey everyone! Has anyone else seen this yet?

A couple is in the final round of a $10K engagement ring contest done by voting through Simon G. Jewelry's website. They say if they win, they'll name their future baby in honor of the show (and they are taking suggestions too on their blog and their Facebook page (just search "Firefly" and the page should pop up about the baby).

Check it out! Let's see if we can get them to win. I don't know about you, but I'd love to see a River baby.

That's half the point IMO. If they want my vote they're going to have to ruin a little kid's grade school experience. Choosing River is too socially acceptable for my vote. I want like Crow or YoSaffBridge.

I say help 'em out. It doesn't cost anyone a bit to do something nice and go vote for them. Young love is cute, and rings are expensive. And Serenity would make a lovely name for a girl, at least until the terrible twos or the teenage years.

There is a little girl at my kid's school named Serenity, sadly neither she nor her parents know of the movie or care.

I like the name Summer better than River. River always makes me think of River Phoenix and that didn't end well...

You've got a boatload of options if you look at the names of the planets. I'd avoid Miranda...

Yep but there are also many other Jenna's. To the point where a google search won't immediately point to porn. However, with Serenity it does. Or did before the movie came out. It was pretty sad that searching for info on the movie brought up porn instead.

My best friend and her husband named their little girl, Kaylee, and yes, it was because of Firefly.

If I was ever to have another child, I'd be pushing hard to name a little girl Kaylee River :D
