Pre Reaverized movie version for me.

As long as we're bein' all super-specific here, I like it at the end of the flick with the new primary buffer panel added back on.

Serenity was just a weigh station for it anyway; the old primary buffer panel jumped ship of its own free will- good riddance!

Captain, this is an almost totally new Serenity. You don't know her a tenth as well as I do.
MAL:
That's why you're staying aboard. I'm sorry, Wash.
WASH: No, Captain, I don't think you're sorry. Not one damn bit. I remember when you recommended I buy this boat from you. You told me how envious you were and how much you hoped you'd find a way to get it back from me again. Well, sir, it looks like you found a way.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Got to say I like the series version better. She looks sleeker and smoother to me. Not all Hollywooded up.

I like them both , so I'm kind of torn.

They're both 'my good girl'.

I like the galley interior from the series better , it's warmer and homier , but I like the cargo bay , pressure bulkhead , and cockpit fitment of the 'movie' version.

The engine nacelles are also much nicer in the movie , which myself and Miss Kaylee appreciate. Also , the landing gear legs from the movie...I've always been a leg man , that and the area right above there.

The series landing gear legs were downright geriatric by comparison , I was always worried Wash would snap one off , leave 'er gimpy.

So the Serenity in my mind is the best all 'round...'Cause she's the nicest ! Someplace right in the middle...

Yup - more heart and soul, less design by suits, especially where it counts; on the inside. I mean that literally.

Tis easy. I'm rather partial to the old gal myself, been with her longer. Plus who could ever forget Kaylee's "that's my good girl"..................

Now, I do like both, and stand by my original thought, but there's also something else.

What were Mal's true thoughts when he first saw her, sitting there, in the yard ?

Was he looking at her, for what she represented ? Or did he truly love the 'ship', for the design?

I know it's been brought up before, often, as to why THAT ship, or that model, was so appealing to Mal. But sticking to the theme of this thread, I'll still favor the series version of Serenity.

I like the series "un-tarted" up version of Serenity better. there was something sincerely homey/friendy about her...the new version has too much makeup on.

Is it a relationship when only 1 party openly displays, or feels for another ?

Sorta getting off track here, but twice in the series, Inara showed genuine concern for Mal and / or his 'business'. Both times, they involved another woman.

And yes, Mal did make a show, of sorts, to Inara's reputation ( at the very least ) in his public defense of her by standing up to Atherton. But it could be argued that his gesture was a more 'formal' one, though driven by his truer feelings, than Inara's more private show of concern in Our Mrs. Reynolds or her anguish in Heart of Gold.

To the point, I think Mal knows , deep down, how he feels for Inara, but doesn't dare to think that she could / would return such feelings towards him. She's a companion, after all, and that fact alone is enough for Mal to outwardly convince himself that it'd be a waste of time for him to fall for a working woman, so to say.

Inara ? She knows, of course, how she feels.
