Getting close to Serenity

I will be in LA the second week of August and I was wondering if anybody knows of any way to get close the filming of Serenity other than the obligatory Universal Studios tour?

You can see stage 12, where they are filming Serenity, right next to the Jurassic Park ride. I don't know if you'll see anything, but this is where the people were hanging out during the Universal Shindig on July 12.
