At lot of news has happened for the film since the release in September at Dragon*Con. Thank you to the over 1,000 Browncoats who turned out. We wish we could have given you a better experience, but we did the best with what we were given and are humbled that so many of you turned out. Since the premiere we've been able to give our first quarterly donation checks to the charities totaling over $9,000 ($1,825 to each charity) making up of donations from pre-orders and a few of the September online orders. We will be sending another round of donation checks in January.

Recently, thanks to the help of many amazing Browncoats, including some well known geeks, we've become a finalist in the 2011 Mashable Awards for the category of

Most Creative Social Good Campaign

There are five days left in voting and we are up against some stiff competition. If you would like vote you can make your vote via Facebook/Twitter or both once per day until December 15th at http://mash.to/2ImZn

We'll be presenting at the South by Southwest(SXSW) Interactive Festival in the Austin, Texas area about the social media side of the film. We're going to receive word in January if we are included in the film portion. If you can make it out we would love to see you.

We've also released our last trailer for the film. This gives away just a few of the secrets that have been blogged or tweeted about, but being the last one, and with the end of the project coming just down the line, we figure we'd pull out the stops in the last one. You can view the trailer at:

Thank you all for your support in the past and moving forward till our deadline of September 2011. If you haven't picked up your copy of Browncoats: Redemption yet, you can get our Region Free DVD, which ships globally, for $18 till 12/17/10 (shipping not included) by visiting http://bit.ly/eE3Rfw

The donation to the charities is not impacted by this discount.

That's a lot of updates in one post, but we'll have more to come. I know it seems like a lot of back patting going on, but we're aware we're only successful because of the support of the community. We are honored to be a part of such an amazing group of people.

Fantastic trailer, Mike! Did you edit that or was it one of your (awesome!) team?

That was done by the films editor Andrew Louis Marnik and original score for the trailer by the films composer Carl Hayes.

Carl's work really shines here. It has that "Inception"/"Tron Legacy" energy and less of the usual "jug band in space" thing that Firefly/Serenity music tends to have.

But Andrew's editing work has to be pointed out as it shows judicious use of the film's story tidbits without really spoiling story elements (okay, it spoils one of the cameos but that cat is well out of the bag...the audience you want now are new to the 'verse). I get so tired of watching trailers these days and feeling like I've just watched whole movie. Total high-five on this one!

Nothing wrong with it, but I find it hard to believe that in the whole 'verse that only country music survived. :) Somewhere there is a culture that still appreciates electronic music. Probably in a blackout zone or something.
