I got to thinking that Summer Glau could play a pretty good Ophelia (Hamlet), and that Nathan would make a good Petruchio from "Taming of the Shrew". Actually, I could see the entire cast doing "Taming".

So what parts would you like to see our cast play?

Caveat: I've gotten most of my Shakespeare via Hollywood.

I can see Summer's River and say H.B. Carter's Ophelia in the same catagory.

I can't see Petruchio in Mal however, basing this on Richard Burton's interpretation, whose character I love. I can see the Mal/Petruchio x Inara/Kate angle. However, Mal is too intelligent, suave and troubled to be Petruchio. I rather see Jayne as a Petruchio. I see a lot of Hamlet in Mal. One lost his father and is oppressed by his step-father, the other lost his freedom and is oppressed by the Alliance. Like Hamlet, Mal is troubled and reticent to do anything about his problem until the BDM when he decides to "misbehave."

Putting Jayne as Petruchio who would be Kate?...Inara perhaps? hahaha

Now that you've brought this up, I need to watch the Burton/Taylor: Taming of the Shrew again.

Interesting discussion idea!

No, but I can see Nathan playing him, and I can see Jewel or Morena playing Kate, and there are any number of roles in "Taming" for Alan and Adam.

Likewise. And I need to watch Macbeth again, too. I cold see Adam playing MacDuff and Alan playing Banquo in that one.

I could also see Adam playing Stanley Kowalski in "Streetcar Named Desire".
