I'm currently doing a feasability test for a shindig in London towards Christmas, probably the second week. We'd be aiming towards food being provided, decoration, etc.

I have organised things like this before, but I need to know how many people would go, and how much you would pay for a ticket. All ticket money would go towards the costs of the party, so no profit in it for anyone.

In two weeks, if no-one is interested I'll abandon the whole idea, so if you would come, please post now.cheers.

Curse your sudden but ineitable betrayal!

CHRONOS

Hi to all European fans. I'd love to come to a shindig, but the only UK visit for me will be at the end of April (guess why). I think that would be a great opportunity for a shindig since it'll be right around the Serenity premiere and the starfury Serenity convention (apr 28th-May 1st I think). Lots of fans will gather there anyway so attendance is guaranteed. Anyway, whatever you decide I hope you have fun and i'll see some of you at the con. Keep flying!

Take me out to the black, tell them I ain't coming back

Another Oxford Browncoat here.

Shindig sounds shiny, try saying that three times real fast

If I'm not working then I'm pretty happy to travel anywhere. Although Oxford and London are much easier for me to get to.

I would definitely be interested but at that time of the year there won't be that many cheap airfares going so the sooner you can pick a date the better. Same goes for accomodation. Though I would be perfectly willing to bunk down on the floor if somebody would have some floorspace to spare
December would be nice though, and preferably in or close to London.

December in London sounds great to me! I live in London and don't drive, so anywhere that I can get home to without too much hassle is fine by me.

A weekend day in London in December given enough warning is feasible for me and the family. But not the one just before Christmas (air fares will be horrible then anyway).

Thanks for all your replies so far, I'm collating them, don't you worry!

I'm looking at a ticket price of about £15, is this too much? It would include buffet and entertainment. I would probably make it kids go free if accompanied by a parent (Kids = under 16)

I'm completely open to suggestion for what you would want to see at this party, so do please let me know

cheers

Hey fellow Browncoats. I live in Thatcham, (half hour away from Reading) So if people in the area were interested in a meet up in a pub for us locals that would be very SHINY.
Let me know what you guys think and we can choose a pub and time/date.

Sorry I'd love to come but the airfares from here at that time of your would be too high for me I reckon being all the way up here in not so sunny Scotland!! But having said that i will keep an eye on flights in meantime so lemme know when youve all decided.

£15 is fine by me. I leave it to you as to what everyone wants to do on the day. It's a U.K. shindig - that's all that matters!

hi is there any brown coats in north west wanting to do a mini shindig which could then join with the Oxford/London one?

I live in the North West (Cheshire), and I'd go to both!

I'd happily help organise one in the north west too, if there were enough people that wanted to go...

The venue I'm interested in in London is holding Saturday December 4th for us. There would be a screening on DVD,DJ and buffet included in ticket price. More info coming all the time, but I get the impression that a minimum number of people to attend would be 40, that would cover the costs. Obviously, every other ticket sold after that would just make the whole thing more and more shiny!

Saturday 4 December is fine and 15 pounds sounds ok as well. How many reactions have you had so far? Enough to make a start?

A tentative suggestion, which may provoke laughter or disbelief, but here goes...

When the film launches, how about a second shindig? Where?

Where was the FIRST UK multiplex cinema complex? Still in use, but now being run under the auspices of Mr Stelios of Easy-every-gorram-thing-under-the-sun ...

... Milton Keynes ... just off the M1, rail links to London & Birmingham, Coach links to Oxford and cambridge ... and a big fan-based film might go down well at EasyCinema.

So ... is it worth contacting Mr Stelios and asking him to put in a bid ...?

... especially as tickets are cheaper if you book in advance, so you can buy early, get a better bargain, and generally get the film shown more and/or on more multiplex screens...

Thoughts?

I'd probably attend any Shindig in the South of England. Be nice to meet a few other UK fans.

December 4th? £15? Sounds shiny .

Wordsmith's idea is also good - like some form of mass meeting up to see the film? I was struck by a similar idea and I must say it sounds like a good one.

Hey guys

I've had enough response now that I'm happy to go ahead. I've contacted the venue I was interested in and they've held the date, and are going to get back to me soon about when they want a deposit and how much it will be.

Would people be willing to pay in advance so I can get the deposit paid? I've done it out of my own pocket before and then had people pull out (Hello, Buffy Finale Party Patrons )

I was thinking maybe a chinese hawaiian theme? Plus, has anyone got any suggestions for music and which episode of Firefly to screen?

yes I'd be happy to pay in advance, I've done this sort of thing before too which is why I'm not volunteering!

I've come into this rather late and cannot seem to make head nor tail of what's going on...would someone be kind enough to list any upcoming shindigs that have been arranged for me?

I'm definitely up for going and will travel wherever really, especially somewhere in the south.

Okey dokey, the venue I want is Page's Bar in London www.pagesbar.com but PLEASE DON'T CONTACT THEM ABOUT THIS EVENT!

They have held the date for me, but haven't confirmed anything yet because they're not sure about what they're doing on Saturdays from now on.

Again, I repeat, DO NOT CONTACT PAGE'S BAR about the event because they don't have the details and nothing is confirmed yet.

The details so far confirmed are..

Tickets £15
including buffet, DJ and a Firefly screening, adn the chance to meet up with some of your fellow browncoats. The theme for dressing up is Chinese and Hawaiian.

Anyone who wants to suggest activities or anything like that, please do, and which episode of Firefly do we wanna watch?

Just wondered as I hadn't heard anything for a while, whether the UK shindig is still going ahead. I know all about Pages bar, having been a regular at the Nos nights, so I know the situation that's happening. I was just checking, as I hadn't heard anything about the event and wondered if it was still going ahead.

Yep, everything's still going ahead, i just didn't have any more info to post as Page's haven't got back to me yet. Even if they can't hold it there I will just find another venue, the shindig will go ahead no matter what

cheers

I'm based in London and should be able to make any local shindigs. Please keep us updated on your plans - is there any chance you can crosspost the details when you have them to the Serenity movie Browncoats boards too?
