Here's one or two of the things I'm planning for my party in NC. . .thought I'd share.

1. Costume contest. (duh)

2. Gonna have EVERYONE who is dressed as Jayne assemble on stage and sing "The Hero Of Canton" together.

Any suggestions for other stuff?

Trivia contest perhaps...

I think somewhere the rules to the card game (tall card, plum, etc) have been posted. Could set up a table of that.

-- Ice Planet eating contest...

-- Find the Lassiter...

-- Mudder's Milk drinking contest...

-- Who can stay still as Tracey the longest contest...

-- Shiniest AmbulanceCraft Model speed building contest...

-- Who can hold their breath as long as Mal contest...

-- Who can put the papers back into the symbol race...

-- Who can correctly match the most cans with their labels (in 30 seconds)...

-- Assemble the T-shirt puzzle race...

-- The Train Job contest (set up an HO model train oval, cut the middle off the top of a box car, put metal somethings as loot in the boxcar, give someone a magnet on a string and 60 seconds to get as much of the loot out of the box car as possible, while the train is moving without upsetting the train.)

-- A Reaver Face-Painting Table

-- Get a round jar, labeled "Galaxy", fill it with male figurines, (army men, whatever's cheap), and have people guess how many of SafYoBridget's husbands there are in the Galaxy.

There... how's that? Now this was fun!

[And now I need disclaimers: If you try any of these ideas, you're at your own risk. Make them as safe as can be, and consult experts if you doubt your ability to make it safe. I'm only an idea man here, and not responsible for your injuries.]

Yeah two versions of this...

Bar Window Throw contest...
Set up a big retangular Window-like frame a few feet off the ground. Make up some dummies of different weights. The contest is to see how far one can throw the dummy through the window. Furthest distance per weight class wins.

Bar Window Leap contest...
Set up a big retangular Window-like frame, either sturdy and padded, or collapsable, probably no more than a foot and a half off the ground. And you're going to need good padding on the floor, immediately behind the window and extending for some ways. Then take a running leap, and see how far you can toss yourself through the window frame and out the other side. Furthest distance wins.
(I personally can't recommend this one. It sounds like something from one of those "reality" shows.)

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I think the costume contest is a great idea. I am putting together the final touches for my costume for Dragon Con in Sept now.

A trivia contest is a good idea. A Mudder's Milk drinking contest would be fun & perhaps hi-larious.

You could have a contest for the best performance of the Ballad of Serenity & Hero of Canton.

Channain and Moonmagick, do you think the Uptown in Mpls might be a place we could have our premier? We could do some advertising at MarsCon.
