I voted for him as well. But I would much rather see him working on Serenity II: The March of the Purple Bellies and Serenity III: The Reaver Ultimatum

"Directed by Joss Whedon" sounds great, but I like "Written and Directed by..." even more. He's writing X3, isn't he?

EDIT: Oh, I'm getting confused with comic books. Oops.

I'd still be down with him writing it too! I loved the first two, but I know he can take it to the next level.

I'd love to get Avi Arad* on record as to his thoughts on a Joss Whedon helmed X3. Joss Whedon's OWN thoughts on the idea would be lovely as well!!

Joss Whedon + writing and directing X3 = no brainer.. make it SO!

Yet another reason for all of us to make Serenity a blockbuster success. If Joss proves he can bring a $50 million film to the masses and make it successful, Marvel will be forced to hire him!

While I love Joss and almost everything he does, I don't want him directing X3. I think he'd have the problem he has with his X-men comic book run. He has almost too much respect for the characters. I love Joss for his willingness to shake things up, and go where you never expected him to. While I fully expect him to do this with Serenity, I don't think he could do it with X-men.

I've read the first three X books, and one thing I've noticed is that Joss seems handcuffed by the divvying up that occurs on the Spiderman and X Books as to who gets what. Joss has the X Men, but no Professor X - so he is doing a story about a cure for the mutant gene, and has to throw away a line that they are not going to contact Prof X for every "little thing" that happens.

I also can't stand the look of the Beast, who is far too derivative of Vincent from Beauty and the Beast. That said, some of the dialogue has been pretty cool.

The advantage Joss would have with the movie would be he wouldn't have a continuity problem to deal with beyond what has happened in the first two movies.

Joss is still dominating the poll. Last day to vote is 8/8/04.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.
