"You know what the chain of command is? It's the chain I go get and beat you with till you understand who's in ruttin' command here!"
That one always cracks me up.

----------
"We're not gonna die! We can't die, Bendis!
You know why? Because we are so very pretty. We are just too pretty for God to let us die. Huh? Look at that chiseled jaw."

Which reminds me, why do you think Zoe wants to have children? Does she want a little beaver?

Hmmm... It occurs to me that this might be the reason Wash doesn't want children. Having children tends to negate the 'little beaver' attribute, especially for men with a 'little cleaver' (oddly, in this instance a cleaver may be defined as both separator and uniter). Maybe we're finding out more about Wash than originally intended...

P.S.
Incidentally, do you know how to make a hormone?

Give her secret flame a 'goodnight kiss'.

Actually, 'cleave' is a Biblical usage, and appropriate for the heavily religious culture of Triumph, where Mal picks up his blushing bride (and oooh! How she blushes!).

The past tense is 'cleft', as in 'cleft chin' or 'cleft palate'. Rhymes with 'theft'...

And of course, if you look up 'cleavage', there's a picture of Christina Hendricks (YoSaffBridge) alongside the definition.

Thoughtfully,

zoid

My favorite off the gag reel is when Mal, Jayne and Zoe are trapped by the inhabitants of the bar in Train Job. And then the three of them just turn around and start-

"Hoooooow much is that geisha in the window? chin, chin I do hope that geisha's for saaaalllllleee...."

I didn't notice it the first time I watched the ep. When I did notice it, I thought it made River's statement less scary. Now, I'm not so sure.

No, Channain was right. "Bequeathed" means she was left to him when someone died. "To cleave" means to cling faithfully to (though it also means to split or seperate something).

All right, don't know how I forgot this one, also from "War Stories" (seems like it's one of the great quotable episodes). Mal's admonishments to the girls in the intro:

"Ah, the pitter-patter of tiny feet in giant combat boots. SHUT UP!"
...followed immediately by...
"One of you is going to fall, and die, and I'm not cleaning it up!"

Wash- "Were I unwed I would take you in a manly fashion."
Kaylee- "Cause I'm pretty?"
Wash - "Cause you're pretty."

Pretty much sums up my life with my male friends right there,

There were two versions of the gag reel. The one included on the DVD is a shortened version. The longer gag reel is available on the internet. I think the address is in this thread:
http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=2&t=4492

There's probably a bunch more places to find the gag-reel. Just do a search through the archives of this section of the web site for "gag reel" and you'll see a number of threads.

Sure. Put in disc 4 of the DVD set. Go to the Special Features section and then go to Page 2 of that section. Highlight (but don't select) the Joss sings Firefly theme feature. Push the left navigation button. One of the frilly decorations should now be highlighted. Select that.

editted to add: And, in the spirit of this thread, I'll add in a line that always cracks me up (although I'm not sure it's my favorite). It's from the scene in Shindig where Mal takes out his frustration with Inara on Kaylee.

JAYNE: Is she mad or something?

That and:

JAYNE: I'll buy you a slinky dress.
ZOE: I can hurt you.

Okay. That whole exchange starting with Wash wanting to get money from Mal to buy Zoe a dress. .
