While the characters are discussing dying, Troy says that he and Abed have a pact that if one of them dies, the other will make it look like it was a suicide caused by the unjust cancellation of FIREFLY.

He then looks at Abed and says something like "We're gonna get that show back on the air, buddy!"

Awesome reference of my favorite TV show of all time on one of my favorite comedies of all time.

not to fret!

I literally cheered while watching that part. Maybe the reference will lead a few more people into the greatness that is Firefly...maybe it will lead the masses and change the course of history. I doubt the latter, but I will never give up hope.

Shiny!

My wife and I flipped out when we saw that, and double flipped when Levar Burton showed up. Troy is the best. "Set phasers to love me!"

Just watched it tonight on the DVR. Had to rewind and watch that part over a couple times, with a huge grin on my face.

Not sure if Firefly references are becoming a meme in Hollywood among the writers, but they DO seem to show up more and more. "Bones", "Big Bang Theory", "Community", and others have all brought it up, and of course our very own Cap'n strapped on the holster and donned the brown coat for a Halloween episode of Castle.

Gotta love the Firefly love!

Awesome shout out indeed. I could not get over it, as it was quite a pleasant surprise that, on a show that is quickly becoming my fav comedy, I would hear the sweet music that is Firefly mentioned on TV by anyone other than Nathan. Community has consistently churned out episode after episode of the best comedy that has gotten little-to-no recognition from the Emmys or Golden Globes. It is an underdog hit, much like our Firefly. I'm gonna go watch it again, SO HAPPY!

SGG

We're gonna get it back on the air, buddy

I'd never seen the show before io9 posted that clip last Friday, but I've now watched all the Season One episodes, and am now starting on Season Two.
It's possibly the most wonderful sitcom I've ever come across!
Many times I've come perilously close to rupturing a lung (or some other internal organ, possibly the spleen) from laughing.

Abed instantly became my favorite character, and Danny Pudi's performance has moved me to tears on several occasions.

• When he showed his first movie to his father
• When Annie angrily asks him why he stayed in the experiment room for 26 hours, and Abed just says, "Because you asked me to stay, and you said we were friends."
• When he tells Britta how cool it would be to be able to dance, but that he wouldn't want to take a class in it, then gives it a whirl after everybody's left the theatre... and he's amazing!

And Troy and Abed have the best friendship ever. I just love their end credits tag scenes.

It breaks my heart that the show hasn't received any award nominations.

Nice to see FIREFLY helping COMMUNITY get another fan. :)

It's one of my favorite comedies ever. I think the pinnacle (so far) is the piant ball episode--possibly the funniest half-hour of comedy EVER.

Couldn't agree more! Destined to be a classic!
Just look at all the fan-made trailers for it on YouTube. This one's my favorite...
