Having recently returned from a vacation to San Diego where I was able to see the BDH's in person (I wrote up my impressions elsewhere ), I started thinking: What if the cast were to be invited to play All-Star Celebrity Poker? This is a game I see on the Bravo Channel occasionally where a bunch of celebrities play high-stakes Texas Hold'em for charity. Who would win?

I'm tempted to vote for Ron Glass, because he appears the most level-headed and mature of the group - something of a father figure with a whole but-load of life experience to back him up. But when I see how he reacts and talks in the behind-the-scenes interviews on the 4th DVD, I also get the impression that he is too exuberant to have a good poker face.

I think Adam Baldwin would put on the best show of being serious about the poker, but he might over-do it and end up with a few key 'tells'.

Morena Baccarin would probably go far, just because no-one would expect her too, but she wouldn't ultimately win.

If Summer Glau was familiar with poker, she could potentially pull it off. Same for Sean Maher.

I get the feeling that there may be some untapped reserves in Gina Torres. My guess is that she would come away the big winner.

What's your opinion?

Good question.

Better question is 'who would be the first caught cheating?'

i LOVE this question!! it combines my two most recent obsessions... texas hold'em and firefly. i'd actually have to go with nathan as the most likely to win. he just seems like he'd be the type to be really agressive and would force weaker players out early. i can really see gina giving him a run for it though. can't say why, but i really see alan as being the first to head back to the loser's lounge, lol.

If Celebrity Poker teaches anything, it's that women are absolute sharks at poker. Usually the outgoing ones are the best too - you can't get a read on someone who's always smiling, bluffing hand or deadly hand regardless.

So I'd give it to either Morena or Jewel. Ron Glass would play too seriously and fall out quick. Adam Baldwin would survive a while but take one too many massive risks and try to all-in when he doesn't have the cards for it. That'd leave the ladies to dissect the remaining man between them, whether it's Nathan or Alan

Gina is my bet. I just think she has the smarts and that she'd stay cool and in control under the pressure.

I think that Adam or Summer would win because Adam seems that he could have a good poker face. And Summer because it would be funny to see the girl who plays the crazy girl wins. But it would be cool to see Nathan to win too.

My first thought was also that Ron would win, cause he's just so damn cool, but you're right, he went a little nutty on the interviews lol. I'm thinking Morena would win. I can just picture her doing it lol.

no way.

it would be between mal, zoe and book.

mal and zoe would kill at this game cause their personalities would make great hold em players. book is the hardest person to read in the series so he would make for an even harder read in hold em.

jayne would play to aggresive, kayle would be easy to read, inara would do well but not make the final table, the doctor would be scared if the bets got really high and wouldnt be able to bluff a weak hand, the doctor i could see do well, but like inara would not make the final table, and river would be a wild card cause you never know WHAT she knows so she could take the whole thing but im leaning towards no with her.

love hold em, played all last week with family visiting from out of state. good times.

but yeah, mal, zoe and book with imo book taking the pot and winning a firefly hold em bracelet.

Okay, is it just me? I just noticed five links to Poker web sites in the "Sponsored Links" column next to this thread. I swear I've never seen those on this site before.... Is the site administrator that on top of things to have thread-specific links appear or have just been blind?

He's using Google-Ads, which automatically scans the common words in each thread and posts 'relevant' text ads on that page. Haken gets some infinitesimal fraction of a penny each time one of us clicks on a link.

Jayne, your mouth is talkin. Might want to look into that.

All actors should have an advatage at playing poker since they should have the ability to hide their true emotions with acting.

But I've seen enough celebrity poker to know that's not the case.

I would have to go with the person with the most experience with the game.

No I don't know who that is either.
