Is anyone else really loving this show as much as me?

It is by far the show which I most eagerly anticipate each week. The characters development is intoxicating. The political intrigue, plotting and betrayal keeps me on the edge of my seat. The fact that the author kills off main characters leads you to not know who will survive or die. And the storyline is absolutely amazing imo.

The end of episode 9 had my on my feet screaming at the TV (literally)

Who of you love this show?

not to fret!

I'm a fan, though it took me awhile to really get into it. The pilot and first couple episodes were meh, but once the story was built and plots began to thicken, I haven't been able to stop watching. I was shocked at the end of ep 9. Shocked. But that's why I love this show; you just never know what's next or who will survive. I found myself really liking characters that I didn't much care for in the beginning because of how each is developing in this crazy story. It's quite a refreshing show.

I've only seen one ep (the first one), at a friends house but it looked pretty well done for the budget they were working with, and the acting was actually far better than I expected it to be.

I also laughed my ass off twice, the first over the notion that Arya was actually fooling ANYONE with that helmet, and the second... well, Pimp Daddy Tyrion FTW!!
Meheheheh-hahahahaha.
Seriously, that about slew me, right there.

There is a fundamental darkness at the heart of this story--George R.R. Martin's taste for blood is like a lion's, which makes Joss Whedon’s taste for blood look like a kitten’s.

Artistically daring HBO is not just indulging in violence, but also telling long, slow-paced stories that accumulate over time and really let viewers get to know their characters such as Summer Glau's costar on Terminator, Lena Headey, banging. Or Summer's imp costar in The Knights of Badassdom, Peter Dinklage, also banging. The dwarf needs love, and HBO needs adult content, to survive.

I'm also enjoying the series and very glad that HBO has renewed it. I even bought all the books (and pre-ordered the next one); it's helped keep track of the many, many characters.

Very well done. Gotta love cable, which gives us shows like The Wire, Sopranos, Dexter, Spartacus and so on. They all can take their time, and can be outrageous. Game of Thrones does all that. Dinkage should get an Emmy for what he has done with the imp (Tyrian Lannister) role.

Have to agree that Dinklage is making the show for me.

I remember that when this was in development, Dinklage's involvement was seen as a positive sign for the show. I was expecting good, but he has been amazing.

"Remember, before you sell me out, whatever they're paying you, I'll beat it, I like living" With that sarcastic and condescending tone...so fantastic.

I've read the books that have been out years ago, so while i know whats coming, the details are fuzzy, meaning ive been surprised once or twice by the show.

I give it high marks and recommend it highly, especially for those who find most modern fantasy to be a little too bubblegum...

And how great was that line in response to "How would you like to die, little man?"

Yanno, in the same vein, I'd pay good money - might even grit my teeth and actually pay for cable for a bit, even though I don't watch TV...

If they'd do Heros Die and Blade of Tyshalle in this fashion - even if the subtext about violence as entertainment hits a little close to home.

Martins work is great, but man it requires some patience, doesn't it ?
(I got to poke a bit of fun at him about this at a Con, shortly before he got trapped in the elevator that time)
In the meantime, though, if you liked Martin, you'd probably like the two novels I mentioned if you can find em, written by Matt Stover.

Is HBO gonna cut Game of Thrones to DVD, you think ?
Cause it's something I'd like to own that way, given that I prefer disc-in-hand to content that is under anyones control but mine, cause I'm a bit OCD about that.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Agreed.

Started to really get into the show at episode four and have not been able to get enough since. One of the very few shows I look forward to on tv anymore.

Frem, Id be shocked if they didnt, almost all the big HBO shows end up on DVD as big moneymakers...

u will probably have to wait til close to the release of the second season i would guess, u know how those marketing guys love their synergy.

I just bought all the books (4 so far) on abebooks. A buddy of mine can't watch Game of Thrones because he reckons they've left to much important stuff out. Gotta check'em out and see what he is on about.

I felt like they've left the most important stuff in the show. After episode 7, I downloaded the book set from iBooks and finished all 7000+ pages of it in two weeks. While I know what's going to happen, I still love watching as it happens and thought HBO has done a wonderful job.

My only complaint is that there are only 10 episodes in the season.

Keep the Shiny side up

One thing I've figured is that you don't want to be a Stark guardsman.

Indeed, I know the Stark colors are black and grey, but they really oughta be wearing a red tabard, shouldn't they ?
