Just trying to find out if its best to watch them in the order on the DVD or in order of production number?

DVD order, definitely. It's the way JW wanted it and it makes the most logical sense.

Since you'll want an excuse for watching them over and over again, I recommend watching them randomly. Roll two dice and add the numbers together. Then toss all the DVD's on the floor and pick up the one nearest you. Put the DVD in the player and start pressing buttons until something starts to play.

This will result in the most confusing possible introduction, which is how Fox Television originally intended the series to be viewed.

DVD of course! Why would you even think otherwise? That's the way Joss wanted it.

If you can't cope with Firefly viewed in any order then it probably isn't the show for you.

Purplebelly is right UNLESS it is your first time viewing the episodes.

If it is your first time, watch them in DVD order, most definitely.

Definitely the DVD order - or as I also like to call it: the Sci-Fi Channel UK order. They had the good sense to contact Joss and ask him what order the episodes were meant to be shown in. Even more amazingly than that - they actually listened!

the movie is not the Series. Only the facts have been changed, to irritate the innocent; the names of the actors and characters remain the same

This question has popped up repeatedly since the DVD was released last Christmas. Rather than scatter the discussion, you might want to look @ http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=4&t=6011
