The planet in the second one looks a bit similar to the Eavesdown Docks, if you ask me, but I think the influence on the slaver ship in the first vid is pretty clear.

Okay, I'll give you the rotating engines, but even that's something they've done before on the show, so it's an old homage, if anything.

As for the rest, you have seen Star Wars before, right? The ramps, for instance, are part of nearly every damned ship.

Do they actually say "Big Damn Slavers"? I can't play the audio at work, but that would be pretty damned funny, I'll admit.

Meh, the engines are actually generic VTOL design, you could find similarities between Serenity and actual military aircraft that utilize rotating ports for vertical Take off/ landing
