America loves a winner!

But rumors of Serenity 2 again? Directed by Michael Bay ? And NO Nathan Fillion ???

The only reason I ask is... well, I just heard a vicious rumor, is all.

Please disregard if this turns out to be total bunk, and accept my apologies, in advance.

That's what I thought, just silly rumor, but still... Hadn't heard any talk of a sequel in a few years, so this was a bit of a shock to me.

Michael Bay? He couldn't do it. His trademark is helicopters. Without helicopters, Bay's work just isn't that great. There are no helicopters in the verse, as they are pretty much obsolete. Bay is not Joss Whedon, and if Nathan Fillion wasn't there, how could it be truly Serenity?
If anyone was to do a sequel who isn't Whedon, Jerry Bruckhimer (Armageddon, G-Force) could pull it off. But the verse isn't the verse without Joss and our Captain Tightpants

Admittedly, Bay would have really brilliant action scenes, but Serenity is pure Whedon territory.

Yea, It's just not Bay's style of movie anyway, he wouldn't know what to do with it

You need to consider the source IMO.
WoMD deliverable to our shores by turds? Yeah right.
Bay doing Serenity 2? Yeah right.
Blue Sun funding health care? Yeah right.

Actually, the source has been pretty heads up on a lot of things, but not so much when it comes to Firefly. Which is why I FIRST trotted over here, and then checked out...well, some other places. Not a peep. Narry a jot, as it were. So I can rest easy. At least, on this matter.

Michael Bay's body can be drained of blood in 8.6 seconds, given adequate vacuuming systems! If he gets a hold of the rights to Firefly/Serenity, he might experience that first hand.

James Cameron or Ridley Scott get the rights with Joss' blessing, I'm open to it, though "Joss is best!"

I'd given some thought to movin' off the edge -- not an ideal location -- thinkin' a place in the middle.

I think you will find this is the source. But check the date of the posting. Very cruel and not funny.

The only thing that would have really been cruel and not funny, was if any of this story was real! Sure, I'd love to see Serenity 2 on the big screen, but not if Joss has been replaced by that hack Bay, and not if anyone but Nathan is playing Malcolm!

Twenty or Thirty years from now, they can re-boot Firefly and let J.J. Abrams Jr. direct it with a fresh new cast, but for now the current actors aren't too old to dust off their browncoats, coveralls and geisha couture, and be "BIG DAMN HEROES" again!

Thanks for the clarification peacekeeper! I know I for one, will sleep better knowning Micheal Bay is too busy making money off of Hasbro, and leaving our Verse alone!

I'd given some thought to movin' off the edge -- not an ideal location -- thinkin' a place in the middle.

My 1st act WAS to verify, by coming here and merely asking the question.

How'd your brain even learn human speech ?

So, it was an April fools gag, from 2011, that finally made its way 'round the 'verse. Figures. I'll inform the informant, and shall not speak of it again.

No, your first act was to have an emotional response "so this was a bit of a shock to me".
That response prompted a series of posts that would be unnecessary had you verified it your own self instead of being shocked.
